Nathan Jones has emerged as the early 4/6 frontrunner in the betting with Bet Victor and Parimatch.
The Welshman has had two successful spells at Luton, starkly juxtaposed with two difficult stints at Stoke and Southampton.
He's just turned down the opportunity to manage Rotherham, who are eight points adrift of Swansea down in the Championship's relegation zone, and was previously linked to the Swans prior to the appointment of Duff.
A boyhood Cardiff City fan, Jones celebrated passionately when beating Swansea, something that the Swans fans won't have forgotten. This would therefore be a rather bold and controversial move by the club's hierarchy as Jones certainly wouldn't be the popular choice to reconnect the fans.
After losing their identity under Michael Duff, Swansea could have their sights set on a number of talented young managers who favour a possession-based philosophy that produces results, such as their former coach Chris Davies (5/1).
Davies previously worked at Swansea under manager Brendan Rodgers, playing a part in the club's promotion to the Premier League through his work on opposition analysis and tactics.
He would then follow Rodgers to Liverpool, Celtic - where they won seven trophies - and Leicester City, helping the latter win their first ever FA Cup.
Since June, the 38-year-old has been working at Tottenham as senior assistant coach to Ange Postecoglou.
"The core idea of controlling the ball to control the game is still, overall, the better way to get results," Davies said in an interview with Sky Sports in the summerchris davies swansea.
"There are other ways and for different sets of players, there is specificity. But for me, it is still the best way."
Luke Williams, 8/1, is of a similar ilk in terms of the style of football he plays. His Notts County side currently sit 6th in League Two after 20 games and have averaged the highest possession in the league (63.80%).
Williams, who was assistant to Russell Martin at Swansea, has won 46 of his 77 matches in charge of The Magpies since his appointment in July 2022. In his first season he accumulated 107 points en route to winning promotion to League Two, in a campiagn in which his troops scored 117 goals and went on a 25-game unbeaten run.
Another manager to keep an eye on is Brian Barry Murphy whose odds have come in to 5/1.
The 45-year-old managed Rochdale between 2019 and 2021, while he's spent the last two-and-a-half-years overseeing Man City's future band of superstars as manager of their Elite Development Squad, during which he's won back-to-back Premier League 2 titles.
Yokohama F. Marinos manager Kevin Muscat, who was recently linked with Rangers and Millwall, is also in the mix at 8/1.
Former Birmingham boss John Eustace follows at 12/1, alongside ex-Millwall manager Gary Rowett, whereas caretaker Alan Sheehan is 14/1 to get the permanent job.
Sheehan's first match at the helm is a trip to Rotherham on Saturday.
