Cardiff revealed that Lamouchi would be departing on Tuesday after a return of six wins from 18 matches following his appointment in January when he replaced Mark Hudson.
The Frenchman kept the Bluebirds in the Championship although they were significantly aided by Reading's points deduction.
As such, Vincent Tan has decided that yet another fresh face is needed and it's Nathan Jones who has been installed as the early frontrunner in the betting at 4/5 with Bet Victor.
The Welshman is looking to return to management following his miserable 14-game spell at Southampton during which he lost seven of his eight Premier League games.
Prior to that Jones had enjoyed two very successful spells at Luton, whom he led into League One, set them up for promotion into the second-tier, then later returned to inspire a top-6 Championship finish last season.
Sandwiched between those spells at the Hatters was a disappointing stint at Stoke, where he won six of his 38 matches.
The lifelong Cardiff fan will no doubt be extremely interested in the vacancy that has arisen in the Welsh capital and after telling Sky Sports over the weekend that he's keen to jump back into the dugout for a new challenge, the timing could be ideal.
Chris Wilder is another out-of-work manager with Championship experience on his CV.
Wilder previously propelled Sheffield United from League One to 9th in the Premier League, although he failed to spark either Middlesbrough or most recently Watford into life.
Former Blackpool and QPR boss Neil Critchley is also on the market for a new job as are the likes of Danny Cowley, Slaven Bilic, and Michael Appleton.
