The context of this game is odd.
The much scrutinised Manchester United have capitulated recently. Their only win in seven league games came against basement boys Sheffield United who are already relegated having become the first side in Premier League history to concede 100 goals. It is worth noting that Man Utd trailed twice in that game as well.
The Red Devils most recent embarrassment came at Selhurst Park on Monday, perhaps the biggest sign of the times was the fact the hosts went off as favourites. The Eagles then dispatched Erik ten Hag’s side 4-0 to complete the double and leave the Dutchman as the market leader in the sack race, although it does not seem likely he will get the boot with only two games remaining.
As a consequence of that thumping, Manchester United are the largest price they have ever been in the Premier League era to win at Old Trafford. This bodes well for Arsenal who have not won here since 2006.
Whilst the hosts season looks set to fizzle out, the Gunners are in hot pursuit of the title.
Manchester City are in action first this weekend, heading to Craven Cottage in the Saturday lunchtime game but assuming City win that, three points would move Mikel Arteta’s side a point ahead at the top of the table
Man United vs Arsenal Tips
For the record, I actually think there is a bit of juice in this Arsenal price.
The Gunners have won their last four on the spin, winning by a two goal margin or more in the games against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Wolves. It would’ve been all four as well, barring the late comeback from Tottenham in the North London derby.
With the Gunners even money to net thrice, the goalscorer market cannot be ignored and at 14/1, it is Declan Rice’s price to score first which stands out.
Converted into a number eight by Arteta, he has started to add goals and assists to his game netting seven times, one of which in the reverse, and set up another eight.
Rice’s most recent goal was in Arsenal’s last game against Bournemouth where he also set one up.
Picture the scene. Arsenal are 3-0 up and in cruise control, Old Trafford is half empty but those who remain are voicing their anger. In a team littered with petulance, who is the most likely to have lost their head?
Antony is the player in my head and at 7/2 he looks a whopping price to have his name taken.
The Brazilian winger has picked up five cards domestically, two of which coming in his last four appearances.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly
