For most of the season many thought that the Championship title race was as good as over. However, with Leicester losing to Middlesbrough last weekend and the rest of the chasing pack all claiming three points, the gap now stands at 9 points between The Foxes and Daniel Farke’s Leeds.
Ipswich sit level on points with Leeds with 13 matches remaining, while Southampton sit just two points further back in fourth. After eight consecutive second-tier wins, the hosts are the 21/20 favourites to come out on top in Friday night’s clash. The draw can be sided with at 12/5, while Leicester are the biggest price they have been to win any league game this season, out at 13/5.
Moving onto team news and Leeds will be without several players for this clash including Stuart Dallas, Pascal Struijk and Karl Darlow. Patrick Bamford and Sam Byram remain a doubt.
Enzo Maresca could make a change in attack with veteran striker Jamie Vardy potentially replacing Patson Daka. Wilfred Ndidi is the only confirmed absentee for the Foxes.
Leeds vs Leicester Tips
Since the turn of the year Leeds have won eight Championship matches on the bounce and remarkably have conceded just one goal in that period. Despite this I feel they are a little too short in the match result market in what could be a low scoring affair with two tight defences that would rather not lose the match.
Instead of taking a lean towards a result, I’ve picked out two players to give away a foul for my main play of the evening. The first of those is Junior Firpo who in his first season with Leeds in the Premier League racked up a whopping 11 yellow cards. Since the new year, Firpo has been enjoying a good run of starts for his club and has given away at least one foul in his last seven matches. The left-back's foul totals in those games read: 1,2,1,1,3,2,1,2, and with Abdul Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira operating down the right for Enzo Maresca’s side, Firpo looks a solid prospect to continue his foul streak.
The other player I’m backing to give away a foul is Jannik Vestergaard. The former Southampton defender has collected more yellow cards than any other Leicester player this season. Vestergaard has been shown nine yellow cards in total in the Championship this term, with five of those arriving in away matches. When it comes to fouls, he has given away at least one in all of his last eight matches on the road. Combining Vestergaard and Firpo both to give away a foul on Friday pays a very backable 11/10 with Sky Bet.
At 10/1 I’ve also had a few quid on Crysencio Summerville to score and Harry Winks to be carded via the bet365 Bet Builder feature. Only Sammie Szmodics, Morgan Whittaker and Adam Armstrong have scored more goals in the league this season than Summerville who has managed 15 in total. Ten of those have come at Elland Road with the Dutchman finding the net in five of his last seven in front of his own fans.
Paired with Summerville to score is Winks to be carded. The Leicester midfielder has racked up eight yellow this season, with six of those coming away from home. Five of those six cautions have come against teams in the top-half including away at Southampton, Watford, Coventry and Norwich and he will have to help take care of Georginio Rutter who is the second most fouled player in the division this season.
