Kilmarnock vs. Rangers Betting Tips: Two bets for late Saturday SPL offering

As well as ushering in the EFL's return this weekend, Tom Winch is on hand to welcome us back to a new season of Scottish Premiership action as Kilmarnock host 22/23 runners-up Rangers at 5:15pm on Saturday 5th August.
The Scottish Premiership season gets underway once again on Saturday afternoon. Celtic dominated proceedings in 2022/23, achieving a massive 92 points. Rangers, of course, will be their nearest challengers this campaign. Michael Beale’s side travel to Rugby Park in the evening kick-off at Kilmarnock.
Rangers have been relatively busy in the transfer window, bringing in some interesting names who’ll most certainly strengthen the squad. Forwards Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have both made the switch from Serie A. Brazilian Danilo has joined from Dutch champions Feyenoord, while The English trio of Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell have also made the switch. Jose Adoni Cifuentes looked like a real player in the MLS and will be one to watch after his move from Los Angeles FC.
Kilmarnock ended the season in 10th place, Daniel Armstrong finishing up as the club's top scorer with nine goals across 37 appearances. Marley Watkins has joined as a free agent, whilst Kyle Magennis has made the switch from Hibs. A handful of players have joined from a number of clubs in the EFL as Kili look to improve on last season's finish.
Kilmarnock vs Rangers Tips
I’m taking the goal line for this clash. Rangers’ additions make them look like a real threat in attacking areas. Their goal average on the road last season was 3.52, with the fixture ending 2-3 back in January.
Michael Beale has plenty of options across the front line, but it’s tricky to work out how he’ll set his side up on Saturday evening. There’s one player who’s always guaranteed to start and that’s James Tavernier. The right-back bagged an incredible 16 goals last season in the Scottish top-flight and was the club's top scorer.
Derek McInnes’ side will give this game a right good go, priced as hefty underdogs at 6/1. They performed miles better at home than they did on the road last campaign, picking up 32 points from 19. Kili scored in 16 of those 19 home matches, including one against Celtic earlier this year.
The 31-year-old captain has been huge for Rangers ever since he joined the club back in 2015, scoring 101 goals in 402 appearances during this time. He’s on every set piece for Rangers and when they’re awarded a free kick, there’s a good chance the ball ends up in the back of the net.
In Rangers’ previous three friendly matches, they’ve been awarded a penalty in all, so it seems they’re doing something right in the opposition's box. Tav is Mr Consistent, who'’ll love to get off the mark on the opening day and it's a feat you wouldn’t put past him from achieving.
He’s a decent price considering he'll take every set piece and loves to get forward in what should be an attacking Rangers line-up.
