Jadon Sancho Next Club Odds: Dortmund, Tottenham and Saudi Arabia all mentioned
Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United has been called into question following Erik Ten Hag’s comments on the youngster.
The betting sites have been quick to price up odds for his next club. Below, we've taken a look at the betting market to see what they think his options are.
What has been said?
After the defeat to Arsenal, Erik ten Hag came out and said…
“Jadon Sancho out? Based on performance on training we didn't select him. You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. That’s why in this game he wasn't selected”.
This immediately sparked a lot of talk on social media about Sancho’s future at the club and the winger quickly responded publicly to these comments via his Instagram feed:
“Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!
"All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
Sancho has now been placed on a new training programme at Manchester United in hopes to rekindle some of the form he showed in Germany. Now we'll move onto the potential options for Sancho...
Any Saudi Club
Of course it wouldn’t be a transfer saga without the mention of a Saudi Arabian club.
Sancho was reportedly offered on loan to various Saudi clubs for the rest of this season and that has caused a lot of money to be poured into Saudi in the betting market, they're now the 7/2 favourites to sign the player if he is to move.
Sancho is on a big wage at United and would still come with a pretty hefty transfer fee considering the amount they signed him for and that could deter a lot of the Premier League sides from signing him.
Man Utd may also be reluctant to do business with their rivals in case Sancho does get back to the form we know he is capable of meaning a transfer to Saudi could actually make a lot of sense from their point of view.
The Saudi League continues to get stronger and stronger with the likes of Neymar, Mane, Saint-Maximin, Neves, and many more joining the league this year.
At the end of the day, money talks, and Sancho could become a star over there whilst making a staggering amount of money.
Tottenham
Spurs were closely linked with Sancho once upon a time before missing out to his current club Manchester United.
It’s no secret that Tottenham are big admirers of Sancho and with a new shed load of cash to spend on transfers thanks to the departure of their old captain Harry Kane, they could look to make a move in January if Sancho is completely shunned out of the United squad.
Rumours in the summer circulated over Sancho’s future under Erik Ten Hag long before this whole saga and Tottenham were apparently lining up a potential £50m deal for the forward.
It’s clear they’re still interested in him and new boss Ange Postecoglou would certainly welcome the fire power up top if Sancho can replicate any of his form from his Dortmund days.
Borussia Dortmund
Up first in the market at 6/1 is a return to the club where he made a name for himself: Borussia Dortmund.
Jadon Sancho was amongst the best prospects in world football during his time in Germany where he was consistently putting up huge numbers in both the assists and goals department.
He had a stunning partnership with Erling Haaland at Dortmund and compared to his days at Manchester United, he looks like a completely different player.
Dortmund always do good business and if they were to bring back Sancho it’d certainly help them compete for the Bundesliga once again.
Unfortunately for Sancho, Haaland is no longer at Dortmund and is instead one of his main rivals in the Premier League which would probably put Sancho away from a return to Germany.
BVB have a knack for doing some smart business though and bringing back Sancho for a discounted price would certainly be a good move on their half.
Stay at Manchester United
And then in comes the favourite option: Stay at Man Utd.
Despite all the talk of Ten Hag being incredibly unhappy with Sancho and trying to shun him out of the squad, betting sites remain firm in the belief that he will still be a United player after the next transfer window.
He’s currently 8/13 to stay at United and in all honesty, it’s probably going to happen.
Sancho said in his statement he is determined to fight for this Man Utd badge and when he has played this season, he has put in a good performance.
Yes, he may not be getting the playing time he has hoped for but this could all just be a huge wake-up call for him and he could come back even stronger than ever.
There’s no doubt he will be the subject of many transfer rumours in the upcoming window in January but, by then, he may have already sorted out his personal issues and be back to playing his best football. United invested heavily in this player, don’t expect them to let him go this easy.
