Before Scotland can start to think about their Euro 2024 opener against hosts Germany on Friday 14th June, Steve Clarke's troops will look to boost pre-tournament confidence when they face Gibraltar and Finland in a couple of friendly fixtures.
Scotland were one of the first teams to qualify for this summer's tournament and memorably beat Spain during the group stages. However, the Scots have since struggled, having gone seven games without a win, stretching back to September. In truth, they have faced a number of high-calibre countries during this streak - including Netherlands, France, England, and Spain - yet the 1-0 defeat at home to Northern Ireland in their last game was extremely disappointing.
If there's one team you want to face when on a rut, it's Gibraltar. Since October 2020, they have won just two of their 36 matches in all competitions and have lost their last 12 in a row.
It's therefore no surprise to see that bookmakers BoyleSports have handed Scotland odds of just 1/40 to claim the win, with Gibraltar out at 33/1, while a draw can be backed at 14/1.
Gibraltar vs Scotland Predictions
Scotland may be on an untimely seven-game unbeaten run, but they should be confident of claiming a comfortable win on Monday in a match that gives them an ideal opportunity to stamp a much-needed high-scoring win on the board, as they did in the two previous clashes against Gibraltar in 2015, when they registered 6-1 and 6-0 wins.
Scotland are a minuscule price at 1/40 to win and 4/9 to win to nil, however, BoyleSports have boosted The Tartan Army from 11/10 to 6/5 to secure the win and in the process score over 4.5 goals, which they are more than capable of doing.
After all, this is a Gibraltar side that conceded 41 goals during qualifying - more than any other country - nearly half of which (20) came in their final two matches of a campaign that ended with eight defeats from eight games. They lost 4-0 to both Wales and the Republic of Ireland in October, and at the other end of the pitch, they have failed to score in any of their last 12 matches.
We need goals for the first bet to come in, and Monday's match gives several Scotland players the perfect opportunity to find their shooting boots ahead of Euro 2024.
This includes Che Adams. Adams is very much a confidence player, reflected in his return of six goals in the space of 16 days for club side Southampton in April, only for injury and a loss of form to derail him.
Adams is priced at 1/2 to find the back of the net on Monday, but as he's expected to lead the line from the start, I like the added value of 3/1 for the 27-year-old to open the scoring.
