United already know they will be playing their football back in the Championship next season after a dismal season that has seen them finish bottom of the Premier League.
The Blades have won just once on their travels all season and that does not bode well for their trip to Everton, who have dragged themselves away from trouble with a series of good results, particularly at their Goodison Park base.
They go into Saturday’s game having won their last four games on their own patch, which has ensured their safety despite a points deduction and they will be looking for a strong finish in their final home game of the season.
Everton vs Sheffield United Odds
The Toffees have found their form at exactly the right time in what threatened to be a disastrous season and they should finish their home campaign with a flourish against a team who have been the Premier League’s worst team by some distance.
There have been times over the past couple of seasons that Everton have struggled in front of their own fans, but four straight home victories mean they will still be in the top-flight next season and they have closed the season impressively
Manager Sean Dyche will be particularly pleased with four straight home clean sheets, including a memorable 2-0 win over Liverpool which put their Merseyside rivals out of the title race.
There is not much pride left for the Blades to play for as they have endured a miserable campaign in which they have been outclassed at almost every turn.
They have scored just 16 goals on the road all season and it is difficult to see them penetrating the Toffees defence, which will be full of confidence that they can keep the blunt Blades at arm’s length.
Everton’s improved recent form has corresponded with some telling contributions from their often-frustrating striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It was not long ago that he was in the England squad and the Toffees striker has found his form at just the right time to ensure his team will be playing in the Premier League next season, and he can produce another memorable performance against the top-flight’s leakiest defence.
He has scored four goals in his last five games, which have included the winner against Burnley, a memorable header against Liverpool and penalties that have earned draws at Newcastle and Luton.
The Blades have conceded 100 goals in their 36 games this season, including 16 in their last four matches, so it is worth chancing that Calvert-Lewin can pop up with at least a brace against such a poor team.
