Declan Rice Next Club Odds: Arsenal favourites ahead of Man City
Declan Rice continues to dominate the rumour mill this summer with Arsenal and Man City in a tug-of-war for his signature.
We’ve taken an updated look at the betting sites to see what the latest odds are saying about his future...
Arsenal
Arsenal are once again the odds-on favourites to sign Declan Rice this summer.
The Gunners have now made a third bid, believed to be worth over £100m, to sign the West Ham midfielder. They've already had two bids rejected.
At one stage the betting sites had Rice as short as 1/20 to join Arsenal, but while they remain the frontrunners, they will be very concerned at Man City's interest in the player and will look to get a done done as soon as possible.
Man City
Man City saw their odds slashed to the odds-on favourites to sign Rice after they submitted a £90m offer.
However, Arsenal's new bid has seen them return to top spot in the market, while City have drifted to 7/2.
Man City have invested quite heavily into this position in the past with Kalvin Phillips but, with captain Ilkay Gundogan moving to Barcelona, City are looking for alternatives.
It'll be hard for anyone in world football to turn down Man City at the moment. Rice would be joining a side that you'd think is guaranteed a trophy every season at this point, he'll also be playing alongside some of the best players in the world and the greatest manager in the world at the moment.
The Premier League champions can easily afford the £100m asking price for the midfielder and they've proved they're not shy of investing that sum on Premier League talent before in Jack Grealish.
Chelsea
Rice started off his career at Chelsea where he joined them at just seven years old. He went on to spend eight years in their youth setup before West Ham quickly snapped him up. Rice has admitted he’s a Chelsea boy at heart with his family being dominated by Blues fans.
Chelsea are now out at 33/1 to sign him at the moment but they’ve previously been as short as 5/6 to sign the West Ham midfielder.
It’s clear Chelsea need something new in the squad that failed so miserably this season. Perhaps with manager Mauricio Pochettino and a star like Rice, they can get back to competing for honours.
Man Utd
It wouldn’t be a true transfer saga without Manchester United being mentioned.
They’re a fairly big price at 33/1 to sign him. There’s no doubt that United fit the bill here but it’s tough to see them investing so heavily in a position they do not necessarily need at the moment.
Casemiro and Rice play similar positions and Casemiro’s first season with the Red Devils has been an overwhelming success, they’re also the favourites to sign Harry Kane so their funds will most likely be all invested into that deal.
Bayern Munich
Bayern (33/1) have been linked to Rice with reports saying that the West Ham captain has had phone calls with the club over a potential £100m move.
We have to admit it would be brilliant to see Rice in the midfield of such a prestigious club like Bayern Munich and to have him competing for titles abroad would only benefit his career, especially on the international stage.
It’d be hard to turn down a club like Bayern Munich and we’ve seen more and more English talent playing abroad these days and Thomas Tuchel is said to be a huge fan of the midfielder.
It'll take some doing to beat Arsenal and Man City at this point but if they can outbid the Premier League runners-up it could get interesting.
Not to sign with anyone
The bookmakers are fairly confident on Rice being on the move this summer.
You can, however, get a whopping 20/1 for Declan Rice to stay at West Ham next season which does seem like a huge price. But even West Ham will struggle to say no to £100m+ for one of their players.
Rice’s loyalty to West Ham has been admirable but perhaps this is the end of his journey at the Hammers. There seem to be too many clubs interested in him and it makes no sense to stay at West Ham and ignore playing in the Champions League. If he wants to get to the elite level of footballers this is a step he must take, as painful as it might be for him. The odds haven't changed much following his Europa Conference League win but it looked as though that was his final game played in a West Ham shirt.
West Ham's Chairman said
"We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going. You can't ask for a man who has committed more to us this season."
“You can't keep a player who doesn't want to be there."
So it looks as though his time at West Ham has come to an end so I'd definitely stay clear of the 9/1 on offer for him to stay.
