Darts Betting Tips: trio of tips for day 8 at Ally Pally
As day eight of the 2022 World Darts Championship gets underway at Alexandra Palace, @tomsportsjourno is on hand to provide the lowdown ahead of the action.
On day eight, we’re being treated to a double session of action with some really interesting ties on Tuesday at Alexandra Palace.
Ahead of the action at Ally Pally, we have a trio of potential winners on day seven, alternatively available as a 3/1 treble.
World Championship Day 8 Tips
Kicking off proceedings on Wednesday afternoon at Ally Pally, the no.15 seed, Ryan Searle takes on nine-dart ace, William Borland.
As aforementioned, Borland struck perfection in the deciding leg during his victory over fellow youngster, Bradley Brooks in arguably the match of the event, so far.
But, the young Scot faces another tough task as he takes on the very much in form Devon ace, Ryan Seale, who recently reached the final in the Players Championship Finals at Butlins, Minehead.
It was an impressive debut on the world championship stage from the Scot, averaging a shade under 95 in that 3-2 win. But, can Borland replicate that level of performance again?
As for Searle, including that run to the final at the Players Championship Finals, his form has been excellent over the past 18 months and I’m expecting a strong display to kick off his world championship campaign, sending a statement out to the world’s elite.
Whilst I think that Searle will come through this one with relative ease, I feel that Borland will take a set, which is available at 4/9 for the over 3.5 sets option.
Kicking off the evening session on Wednesday, the no.10 seed, Nathan Aspinall takes on Joe Murnan. We’re all expecting to see a stand out display from ‘The Asp’, who provides immensely high scoring on a consistent basis and is a constant threat, especially at the world championship, reaching the semi-finals for two years running, losing out to Michael van Gerwen on both occasions.
As for Murnan, it was a below-par display in somewhat partisan conditions in his 3-2 win over Paul Lim, averaging just 79 in that win.
If Murnan’s to cause Aspinall any problems, then he’ll have to improve significantly on that performance. I think Aspinall comes through this with ease, in straight sets, which is available at 10/11.
In what could be a tasty battle on the oche, the Aussie and no. 20 seed, Simon Whitlock takes on Dutchman, Martijn Kleermaker.
Kleermaker made light work of Greece’s John Michael, breezing to a 3-1 win over ‘Deadly Rose’. It should be a high quality battle with several moments of real quality expected, with maximums aplenty.
As Whitlock is regarded as one of the finest maximum-hitters in the sport, hitting 20 maximums at the Grand Slam of Darts, last year in a fine victory over three-time world champion, Michael van Gerwen and breaking the record for the most maximums struck in a match in that particular event.
My overall assessment ahead of this battle is that I expect Whitlock to outscore the Dutchman in the maximum stakes, which is available at 4/7.
