Darts Betting Tips: 5/1 treble for Day 4 action at Ally Pally

As day four of the 2022 World Darts Championship gets underway at Alexandra Palace, @tomsportsjourno is on hand to provide the lowdown ahead of the action.
On day four, we’re being treated to another double session of action with some really captivating ties to feast our eyes on, which features the three-time world champion, Michael van Gerwen taking on debutant Chas Barstow, who impressed in his opening round win over John Norman jr.
Ahead of Saturday’s eye catching double session at Ally Pally, we have a high value trio of potential winners on day four, alternatively available as a 5/1 treble.
Kicking off proceedings on Saturday afternoon, Tipton’s Jamie Hughes takes on Aussie Raymond Smith, who qualified for Ally Pally along with his son, Ky in a fantastic father-and-son story. Ky, incidentally takes on Maik Kuivenhoven in his first-round match.
For Hughes, it’s been a tough year on the oche, suffering from a recurring shoulder problem, followed by a positive Covid-19 test in November. But, as he returns back to full fitness, Hughes is a really tough competitor and a very tough player to beat. Since coming on to the PDC tour, Hughes has enjoyed some great runs on tour and qualified for several televised majors. Hughes’ best run in 2021 came at Players Championship 23, reaching the semi-finals, losing out to Peter Wright.
As for Smith, the Brisbane-based thrower makes his second appearance at the World Championship, having previously qualified back in 2019, losing out in round one to Alan Tabern (3-2).
Dependant on Hughes’ fitness and form, if he can produce the sort of form that we’re used to seeing, I can see the Tipton man winning this one comfortably, by a two-set cushion. The -1.5 leg handicap in favour of ‘Yozza’ is available @ 8/11.
In the final game of the afternoon session, Ian White takes on Dutchman, Chris Landman. White, who has reached six televised quarter-finals goes in search of his first big televised win after winning an abundance of titles on-tour.
Landman impressed in his opener, cruising past a below-par Scott Mitchell in a 3-0 rout of the former Lakeside world champion. In that opening-round win, Landman recorded an impressive 60% checkout success, if he can replicate that he has every chance of potentially springing a surprise victory.
But can he replicate that sort of a display? White will certainly be a tough nut to crack and I for one feel that Landman will find it difficult to reproduce that sort of form and Ian White will not roll over, he’s a fierce competitor and I’m going for a convincing Ian White win. Landman will have his moments, but the Stoke-on-Trent man will just have too much for the Dutchman. The -1.5 set handicap option is applicable for this one, available at 10/11.
Kicking off proceedings on Saturday night is Chester-le-Street’s Adam Hunt, appearing in his fourth World Championship, and will be looking to replicate last year’s showing as he reached round three. Standing in his way is the big Croatian, Boris Krcmar, who’s enjoyed a very impressive debut year in the PDC ranks.
Krcmar’s form on-tour has been mightily impressive and his performances were rewarded, qualifying for the European Championship and the Grand Slam of Darts, most recently.
As for Hunt, he’s competed at the UK Open, European Championship and the Players Championship finals just a few weeks ago, so playing in front of the cameras won’t fluster either player. I’m expecting an enticing battle with moments of real quality and drama expected.
Krcmar goes into this one as the favourite, given his recent form, but I’m going for an Adam Hunt victory in this one. He has more experience on the big stage of the two and with a previous good run on the world championship stage, he knows what it takes.
An Adam Hunt victory is available at even money and should he come through this one, he’ll face Vincent van der Voort in round two and he’ll certainly fancy his chances of another big run at Ally Pally.
You can combine the 3 selections in a treble which pays a little over 5/1 at Betfred.
