Darts Betting Tips: A treble for the return on Day 10

As the PDC World Darts Championship resumes following the festive break, our very own darts expert, @tomsportsjourno is on-hand to provide the lowdown ahead of the action on Monday. As the third round of action is almost upon us, there’s a series of interesting ties to tuck into, following the Christmas break.
It's Day 10 of the PDC World Darts Championship today, coming back after a few days off for Christmas. There’s a high quality double session to look forward to, with a tasty 4/1 treble on-offer.
World Championship Day 10 Tips
Kicking off the action following the festive break, Ross Smith, playing in his third match of the tournament takes on Dutchman, Dirk van Duijvenbode, in what could be a tasty tie to kick things off.
In Smith’s second-round victory over Stephen Bunting, the Kent ace produced an impressive performance, edging out the former Lakeside champion, averaging 94.34, hitting seven maximums en route.
As for Duijvenbode, the Dutchman completed a last-gasp 3-2 win over Russia’s Boris Koltsov in what was a below-par performance, by the Dutchman’s high standards, averaging just 88.69.
Given Smith’s impressive form on-tour this year and his form in this event, having played a game more than his dutch counterpart, I fancy Smith to do a job on Van Duijvenbode, here. It’s also worth noting that the format goes up to the best of seven sets, and I feel that Smith will really rise to the occasion here. Available at 10/11.
In the second tie of the afternoon, the ever-impressive Michael Smith takes on William O’Connor, who blew away former Premier League winner Glen Durrant in his opener.
Smith, who I tipped to go on a real run at Ally Pally in my event preview, really impressed those within the sport in his explosive 3-0 win over Ron Meulenkamp, averaging 106.32, the highest average in the tournament, this year so far, with a whopping 75% accuracy on the outer ring.
After assessing the performances from both players in their opening matches and their form over the course of 2021, I really fancy Smith to produce another high-quality, professional display, leaving O’Connor in his wake.
I’m going for the sets handicap selection in this one. -1.5 sets handicap is available at 1/2.
In the final tie of the evening, the much-fancied Welshman Jonny Clayton takes on the ‘German Giant’ Gabriel Clemens in another mouth-watering third-round clash at Ally Pally.
Clayton was made to work for his slender 3-2 win over Irish youngster Keane Barry, producing five ton-plus checkouts en route. As for Clemens, the German breezed to a 3-0 win over a very below-par Lewy Williams, with an average of 86 being good enough for Clemens to secure the straight-sets win.
Between the pair, both Clemens and Clayton produced 12 maximums between them, with Clayton firing in eight of them in his win over Barry. And with the format extended to the best of seven sets, there’s most certainly an opportunity for more maximums to be struck, given the potential longevity of this particular third-round contest.
I’ve gone with the 180’s market for this one, with over 12.5 180’s to be hit between the pair available at an inviting 4/5.
