Canada fell to a 2-0 defeat to pre-tournament favourites Argentina on matchday one in Group A but bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Peru last time out, leaving them on the verge of a quarter-final place in their first ever Copa America appearance.
Meanwhile, Chile were held to a goalless draw by Peru in their group opener before a late Lautaro Martinez winner secured all three points for Argentina on Wednesday, breaking the hearts of the Chileans and leaving them in need of a win against Canada to stand any chance of avoiding an early exit.
Canada vs Chile Tips
With Peru still mathematically able to pip both Canada and Peru to second spot in Group A, neither side will want to leave exploitable gaps that could lead to defeat, suggesting a cagey affair could be in store in Florida.
Chile have not performed at their best in this tournament while Canada have shown far more energy, and could therefore get the result they require in order to progress to the knockout stages.
La Roja have won just three of their last 12 games while Canada have just three wins across their last nine. With neither side in brilliant form, it is hard to see either taking the game by the scruff of the neck, bringing the draw into play.
However, given that Les Rouges have at least scored in this tournament unlike Chile, Canada may be the stronger attacking outfit and so backing them in the double chance market could be worthwhile.
Group A has generally failed to provide much action, with just four goals scored across the four group games played so far.
Canada’s Jonathan David is the only non-Argentinian player to have found the back of the net in Group A as of yet, while Chile have failed to score in seven of their last 12 fixtures - including both of their two group games.
One goal could therefore be enough for the three points on Sunday and it is difficult to envisage more than that in Florida, with 0-0 also a real possibility, so the under 1.5 goals market could provide some punting joy.
While the likes of star-man Alphonso Davies and the two all-time record goalscorers, Cyle Larin and David, provide plenty of attacking threat, Jesse Marsch’s midfield could also try their luck on Sunday.
Stephen Eustaquio, who plies his trade for Porto, could be one to watch out for in the shots on target market. The 27-year-old is one of just four players for Canada to have tested a goalkeeper this tournament and he should find himself around the edge of the area to go for goal again this weekend.
