Just like France before them, Brazil have secured a place in the last 16 after two matches. That should see them make a few changes for Friday's game, including a start for Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus.
After starting like a house on fire as a Gunner, things have dried up in front of goal for the Brazilian. He's registered zero goals and only two assists in his last six games, which is a stark contrast from the two goals and three assists he managed in his opening trio of matches.
Jesus is the type of individual who wears his emotions on his sleeve: if things are going well, he's bright, tireless and plays with a big smile on his face. But when it isn't going his way, the toys are well and truly thrown out of the pram - which is where our first leg comes in.
Only three PL players - all central midfielders - have committed more total fouls than Jesus' tally of 24 in the competition this campaign. Arteta and Tite think alike in their team's approach without the ball: defend from the front and win it back in dangerous areas. Should Jesus step into that number nine role for the Cameroon meeting, he'll be the furthest man forward and the first line of defence when the Indomitable Lions are in possession.
It isn't necessarily Brazil's possession numbers that certify their dominance; but rather the quick, incisive moves they orchestrate, which knock opposition teams for six. Almost no team barring Spain move the ball as fluidly as A Selecao do.
Brazil have understandably had more of the ball than their opposition in both World Cup matches so far, and the Cameroon game will be no different. In fact, we might see a slightly different side to a Brazil team who can now afford to be a little more patient in their build up having already qualified for the knockout stages.
This all starts from central defender Marquinhos who we are backing to attempt 70 or more passes. The PSG centre-back 96 last time out vs Switzerland, falling just short of this mark in a more competitive game against Serbia with 64.
Whether Cameroon take the game to Brazil is almost irrelevant. The Brazilians will take great joy in retaining the ball and playing with the freedom of no consequence should their opponents somehow deliver a banana skin result in this one.
Rounding out a Brazilian triple header is Casemiro to have a shot on target. Like Marquinhos, Casemiro should keep his place in the team despite rotation. And while you might not immediately associate the holding midfielder with anything related to matters in front of the opposition goal, Qatar has brought out a different side to his game.
Brazil are so effective in their counter pressing that Casemiro seems to play with a lot more trust in the players around him. This allows the 30-year-old to venture forward more for his national side than Manchester United, yielding a shot on target in each of his outings at this tournament.
We all saw his sublime match-winning strike in the Switzerland game, but it's his speculative punts where this leg has a good chance of landing. He isn't afraid to let off a shot from range, evidenced by the five attempts he's registered so far. Having scored once already and contending with teammate Richarlison for one of the best goals scored in the 2022 competition, he might fancy himself to go one better in this group stage closer.
