First up in our three-pronged approach is Burnley’s Jack Cork to pick up a card. We saw a large increase in the volume of cards dished out in the Football League last weekend with officials encouraged to punish players for offences such as time wasting and descent. 

The Premier League will follow a similar narrative and our prime suspect to find their way into referee Craig Pawson’s notebook is Jack Cork. The midfielder was booked more than any other member of the Clarets squad last season with 12 yellows in 39 matches. 

Furthermore, looking at the opponents he has picked up the most booking against in his career and it is Manchester City who are top of the list. Cork has five cautions to his name against Pep Guardiola’s side, more than any other side in his career. 

Josh Brownhill Over 2.5 Tackles

No player completed more tackles in the Championship in Burnley’s title winning season than Josh Brownhill. Manchester City’s side is teaming with talent and Burnley’s midfield will have to contend with the likes of Jack Grealish, Benardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, three of the trickiest players in the league.

Brownhill made three or more tackles in 10 league matches last season, a figure we expect to rise significantly with Vincent Kompany’s side having considerably less possession in matches now they are back in the big-time. BoyleSports go just over even money that Brownhill clears the Over 2.5 line on Friday which looks a reasonable proposition in our opinion.

Bernardo Silva anytime scorer

Despite being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, Bernardo Silva remains a Manchester City player, and remains one of the most talented players in the division. Bernardo turns 29 on Thursday, the day before the game against Burnley, and towards the back end of last season he had a knack of scoring in key fixtures, including a brace against Real Madrid in the Champion League semi-final.

What is also interesting is that there is only one team who Bernardo Silva has scored more goals against in his career than Burnley. The team in question is Watford (5), with the Portuguese midfielder having netted four in just 12 appearances against The Clarets. With this in mind, 7/2 looks a little too big here for him to get on the scoresheet, especially considering there is a strong chance that he will start the game in a front-three alongside Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish.
