Both teams will enter this second leg somewhat deflated, but also simultaneously motivated to progress - Arsenal being issued a huge dent in their Premier League title hopes following Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa and Munich watching Bayer Leverkusen be crowned German champions, ending the club's 11-year title streak.
Ahead of this reverse clash at the Allianz Arena, the hosts are considered marginal favourites at 7/5 to continue their march into the UCL semi-finals. The visiting side, who last made the Champions League final four during the 2008/09 season, have a sketchy record at this ground and are priced at around 15/8 to overcome these demons.
Bayern Munich vs Arsenal Tips
This selection isn't just jumping on the Arsenal downfall brigade, but it does acknowledge that Sunday's loss will have issued some significant damage to Arteta and his side. His team runs largely on energy, spirit and emotion, which will all have taken a hit after the second half collapse they suffered against Aston Villa last weekend.
Similarly, Bayern losing the league to Leverkusen will have them even more motivated to progress in this competition and ultimately win the only piece of silverware still available to them.
There's no better place for them to bounce back from this setback than at the fortress that is the Allianz Arena. This is a ground where a win has eluded Arsenal over the years, with Munich losing only one of their last six UCL home matches against The Gunners here (W4 D1). It's also worth noting that this solitary loss was inconsequential anyway since the Bavarians had already laid down a 3-1 marker in North London prior to that defeat.
The English outfit have lost their last three away trips to German teams in this competition, and the fact that their two heaviest European defeats have come on this patch, coupled with this team's inexperience of huge European occasions, doesn't bode well for the away side.
Of course, records are there to be broken, but given how Arteta's men have already lost two away fixtures in Europe during this campaign and how FCB are unbeaten in 14 in Europe's premier club competition, we believe history will repeat itself in Munich on Wednesday night.
Thomas Muller is on the verge of a huge milestone as he bids to become only the third player to ever make 150 appearances in the Champions League alongside Iker Casillas (150) and Xavi (151).
The 34-year-old German international could also feature in his 24th UCL quarter-final - a feat that he would hold the record for.
While never really being a prolific goalscorer, Muller has always offered up a fantastic tally of goal contributions for both club and country. This season, which hasn't been his best by any stretch, has seen him provide five goals and nine assists in 35 appearances.
He's produced three goals and an assist in his last six matches, and if Thomas Tuchel is to entrust him with the responsibility of helping Bayern Munich land a spot in the competition's final four, we're convinced he will duly oblige with either a goal or assist on this momentous occasion.
