Group H
Mon, 28th Nov - 19:00
Lusail Iconic Stadium, Lusail
The countries clashed in the knockout-stages of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which saw Uruguay edge a close contest 2-1 to progress through to the quarter-finals. Fast-forward four years and another tight tussle is on the cards in Lusail.
This Group H encounter is not to be missed.
A host of high-profile stars will be on show at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, from Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, to Uruguay's Luis Suarez and rising star Darwin Núñez.
We'll have to wait and see the outcome of the first round of group games, but this will be a clash that neither country will want to lose.
Perhaps surprisingly they've only faced off once, four years ago at the 2018 World Cup in a game which saw Uruguay come out on top 2-1 in the last-16.
Portugal have progressed from the group stages in three of their last four World Cups, although they've not clinched top spot since 2006.
Meanwhile, Uruguay reached the knockout-stages in each of 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions; enjoying a clean sweep of group stage wins in the latter. In fact, they've only failed to progresst through to the last-16 in one of their last six World Cups.
