About John Barnes
John Barnes played 79 times for England scoring 11 times (famously below against Brazil) and featured in three major championship squads for the Three Lions at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups and the 1988 Euros.
Barnes is a legend at Liverpool where he played over 300 times, scoring 84 times and winning two titles for the REds, two FA Cups and a League Cup. Barnes also won the PFA Players' Player of the year in 1988 voted by his peers plus the Football Writer's Award for Footballer of the year in 88 and 1990.
The England winger shot to fame at Watford where he played for six seasons under manager Graham Taylor, playing over 200 times for the Hornets and scoring 65 times.
Towards the ends of his career Barnes moved from Liverpool to Newcastle where he linked up with his former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish before a short spell at Charlton before retirement.
A spell as manager of Celtic, Jamaica and Tranmere followed and now John woks as a pundit for ESPN and Supersport.
