Heading into Matchday 3, Morocco sit top of the Group F table on four points. The World Cup semi-finalists are in the driving seat to finish top of the pile, however a defeat here against Avram Grant’s Zambia side could see them drop down to third if DR Congo were to get the better of Tanzania in the group’s other game at 8pm.
The Atlas Lions are the current favourites with most trusted betting sites to go all the way and lift the trophy in the Ivory Coast, priced at 3/1 to do so. When looking at the match result odds for this clash and Morocco are the odds-on favourites to come out on top at 13/20. The draw can be sided with at 11/4, while three points for Zambia and their first ever win at the tournament is chalked up at 5/1.
Zambia vs Morocco Tips
Morocco made the perfect start to their group campaign by demolishing Tanzania 3-0. They then came a little unstuck against DR Congo where they led for most of the match thanks to Achraf Hakimi’s opener, however an equaliser in the 77th minute resulted in the points being shared.
Despite the reservations prompted by the draw, Morocco have still put in two commendable performances so far and their numbers back that up. Their offensive prowess is apparent, having taken 25 shots (11 on target) in their initial two matches. On the defensive front, they have proven themselves, allowing only two shots on target out of the 12 they've encountered.
Zambia have only let off nine shots across their first two group matches and with tougher opposition on the cards here we fear for their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages. At 7/5 with BetMGM we like the look of Morocco to win to nil, in what could be a cagey affair with Morocco eventually showing their quality and nicking a narrow victory.
We’re also taking a punt on Morocco’s Romain Saiss to score anytime in the match at an industry best price of 11/1 with BetMGM. The former Wolves man has been effective at both ends off the pitch for his club side this season, letting off 11 shots in 11 matches in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Shabab.
Three of those 11 shots have resulted in goals and after finding the net at the World Cup and already in this tournament, we think he’ll be a threat at set pieces on Wednesday and looks a nice proposition to get his name on the scoresheet.
