World Cup 2026 Odds
Who will win the 2026 World Cup? Here are the top five favourites for glory according to the outright betting market.
Brazil: 6/1
Brazil are currently the 6/1 frontrunners to win the World Cup for a record-extending sixth time. Despite their strong history in the tournament, the Selecao have faced setbacks in recent years, including quarter-final exits in the last two editions, while their last success dates back to 2002. Brazil's performance at this summer's Copa America was disappointing, with only one win in four matches en route to a quarter-final exit. Significant improvement is needed if they want to succeed in 2026.
France: 13/2
France reached the final of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, emerging victorious in Russia before suffering an agonising defeat to Argentina on penalties four years later. Despite a rather underwhelming showing at Euro 2024, where they scored one goal from open play, they still managed to reach the semi-finals and it goes without saying that the 13/2 priced Les Bleus have the squad, experience, and nous to iron out the creases over the next two years and go on to claim their third World Cup success in 2026.
Spain: 7/1
A new-look Spain dazzled their way to Euro 2024 glory which has seen their odds sliced from 10/1 to 7/1 to win the 2026 World Cup. La Roja won all seven matches en route to being crowned champions of Europe, claiming impressive wins over 2020 champions Italy, hosts Germany, and pre-tournament favourites France and England. Luis de la Fuente's talented side are simply a joy to watch; scoring numerous goals, overwhelming opponents with their high-energy pressing, and boasting not only two young stars in Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, but also the world's best defensive midfielder in Rodri. As the summer of 2024 has shown, this group are incredible, while in two years' time they are likely to be at an even higher level, a prospect that is quite daunting to contemplate for their rivals.
England: 7/1
England will need time to recover from another heartbreaking European Championship final defeat, but there is no doubt that this highly talented group can challenge for the World Cup trophy in two years time. Nonetheless, a clear plan needs to be implemented if England are to maximise the strengths of this gifted group and they will need to find a formula to beat other leading contenders, which is something they have struggled with in the past. The identity of the England manager remains uncertain, and a decision has to be made on whether Southgate stays or goes.
Argentina: 11/1
Argentina will likely have plenty of backers at an attractive price of 9/1 given that they will head into the tournament on the back of three successive successes at the 2020 and 2024 Copa Americas, either side of their memorable 2022 World Cup triumph. At the time of writing - July 2024 - Argentina have lost just two of their 63 matches since 2019, a remarkable run, with this group clearly hungry for continued success as they bid to propel the country to four World Cups. However, it's worth noting that Lionel Messi will turn 39 during the 2026 tournament, although you'd be a fool to underestimate him should he decide to prolong his international career.
Selected Others
Germany (11/1) and Italy (25/1) have both won four World Cups, putting them just one trophy away from matching Brazil's record. Portugal (16/1) and the Netherlands (19/1), on the other hand, are still chasing their first global triumph.
In addition, Uruguay, managed by Marcelo Bielsa, have been given odds of 26/1, Belgium are priced at 34/1, co-hosts Mexico can be backed at 61/1, and Colombia, runners-up in the Copa America, could be well worth looking out at 67/1 given their impressive form over the last couple of years.
