Women’s Euro 2022 Winner Odds: England favourites ahead of quarter finals

An entertaining and goal drenched two weeks of group stage Euro 2022 action has seen 16 countries shredded down to eight. All the big guns have safely negotiated their way through to the knockout stages, some with flying colours - including hosts England, rather spectacularly - while others are still feeling their way into it.
Below we look at where the remaining eight countries stand in the latest Women’s Euro 2022 outright odds market, assessing the price of each side to go all the way…
Euro 2022 Quarter Finals
- England vs Spain - Wednesday 20th July, 8pm
- Germany vs Austria - Thursday 21st July, 8pm
- Sweden vs Belgium - Friday 22nd July, 8pm
- France vs Netherlands - Saturday 23rd July, 8pm
England
After getting their job done in a nervy 1-0 opening day win over Austria, England hammered Norway 8-0 then put five past Northern Ireland. The hosts, the top-goalscorers and maximum points-takers are now the 11/4 favourites to win their first ever major tournament.
Boss Sarina Wiegman still hasn’t even lost a game since taking charge, winning 15 of her 17 matches including the last nine. The 2017 Euro’s winning-manager deserves immense credit for transforming a talented cluster of individuals into an attack-minded cohesive team unit. While in Beth Mead, the Lionesses have the best player at Euro 2022 so far; topping both the scoring and assists charts.
It’s fair to say that England haven’t exactly faced the toughest opposition, but you can only beat what’s in front of you and they’ve done just that in sensational style (sorry Norway). The Lionesses can swat away any remaining doubters - if there even are any? - with a quarter-final win over pre-tournament favourites Spain.
Germany
Germany have been very impressive so far. They won all three group stage games to nil, including a 4-0 hammering of 2017 runners-up Denmark and a 2-0 win over Spain; becoming the first team to beat the Spanish since 2020.
Germany dominate Women’s Euros winners’ list, lifting the trophy a whopping eight times. There have only been four occasions that they’ve not been victorious and they triumphed the last time it was held in England back in 2005.
Their stand-out performer has been Alexandra Popp, who has found the back of the net in every game so far. Her side should be too strong for quarter-final opponents Austria - who won’t be underestimated - with a victory setting up a tasty semi-final against either France or Netherlands…England vs Germany in the final at Wembley anyone?

France
A penalty in the 12th minute of injury-time was all that prevented a much-changed France from a clean sweep of wins in the group stages. Les Bleues won’t be too fussed though after topping the pile with seven points.
Admittedly, France had the advantage of being drawn in one of the more favourable groups, yet they’ve still impressed with their quality, particularly in attacking opponents in the wide areas. The French will now hope to escape the clutches of the quarter-finals, a stage they haven’t battled past since the 2012 Olympics. This time its holders Netherlands who now await in the last-eight, which promises to be an absolute cracker.

Sweden
We identified Sweden as ones to watch in our pre-tournament preview, following an impressive recent resume which includes 3rd at the 2019 World Cup and runners-up at the 2021 Olympics.
Ranked No.2 in the world for a reason, the Swedes have certainly not disappointed at the Euros; finishing top of their group after a 5-0 thumping of Portugal, which followed a win over the Swiss and a draw with defending champions Netherlands.
Now 5/1 to go all the way, it’s also worth noting that - penalties aside - Sweden have not lost a game since March 2020.

Spain
Favourites in the weeks leading up to the tournament, Spain were then hit by a double blow through injuries to their record-goalscorer and best players: the absence of a world class duo such as Jennifer Hermoso and Alexia Putellas would hurt any team. While Spain beat Finland and Denmark, they did suffer a 2-0 defeat to Germany in the group stages.
This defeat coupled with their next opponents, favourites England, has since the Spaniards drop a few places in the betting to the 7/1 fifth favourites. Rule them out at your peril though! The Lionesses could be in for a nasty shock on Wednesday.

Netherlands
If you’re after a double-figure price then Netherlands could be the country to side with at 12/1, although they face a tough route through to the final. Looking to defend the trophy they won under Sarina Wiegman five years ago, Oranje picked up five points in the group stages but a runners-up finish means they now face France. Germany are then likely to lie in wait in the semis, followed by a final which could feature hosts England.
A 4-1 thumping of Switzerland will give them confidence while any team that contains the WSL’s all-time goalscorer, Vivianne Miedema, will be a threat. The Dutch just need to hope that she’s recovered from coronavirus, which has forced her to miss the last two games.

Out at 100/1 to win the Euros and 11/1 to upset Germany, it appears bookmakers’ aren’t giving Austria much of a chance. Yet this is a well-drilled team that restricted England to just one goal while they beat Northern Ireland and Norway in their other two group games. They’ve won nine of their last 11 games and should by no means be underestimated. A potential banana skin for the Germans.

Belgium
Also out at 100/1 we have Belgium. After all, they weren’t expected to find a way out of Group D. France were the obvious favourites while second spot was predicted to be between Italy and Sweden, yet the Red Flames beat the Italians in their final game to book their place in the quarters for the first time. Their spirited and historic journey is now likely to be ended by Sweden.
