Wolves vs. Newcastle Betting Tips: Two bets for Saturday's 5:30pm Premier League offering
Wolverhampton Wanderers host Newcastle United in a Premier League clash at Molineux on Saturday evening, live on Sky Sports Main Event with a 5:30pm kick off. Dean Woodward is our man for the occasion and he's selected two betting tips for you to browse.
Wolves have impressed of late and are unbeaten in their last three games, securing seven points from matches against Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Wolves manager, Gary O'Neil's former side Bournemouth. This run has placed them comfortably in mid-table, sitting 12th, seven points clear of the relegation zone and one point behind 10th-placed Chelsea.
Wolves will see the return of Mario Lemina and Nelson Semedo, both suspended for the victory against Bournemouth. Semedo is likely to slot back into the starting XI in place of Matt Doherty, while Lemina may displace Joao Gomes, who was substituted at half-time in the previous match. The squad looks relatively healthy, with only Hugo Bueno and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde sidelined due to injuries. Sasa Kalajdzic, despite his impactful appearance from the bench, is expected to continue in his super sub role, supporting Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-chan in the attacking trio.
Newcastle aim to bounce back from their first Champions League defeat of the season, a 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund. Despite the midweek setback, Newcastle remain in good form, having recently thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0. They sit sixth in the league, boasting a league-high 24 goals, but their away performances have been mixed, with their only win coming against newly promoted Sheffield United in that extraordinary 8-0 victory.
Newcastle faced injuries in their midweek Champions League clash, with Alexander Isak leaving the pitch early due to a groin issue, and substitute Jacob Murphy suffering a suspected shoulder dislocation. These injuries will likely rule both players out of the squad for the upcoming match. Harvey Barnes and Sven Botman remain unavailable due to injury, but Joe Willock made a 20-minute return against Borussia Dortmund. With Isak injured, a recall for Callum Wilson is expected, and Sandro Tonali's suspension for illegal betting is imminent but doesn't affect his availability for this match.
Wolves vs Newcastle Tips
Craig Dawson has been crucial for Gary O’Neils side, playing a key role in the centre of the back three. He has started all nine Premier League matches with only Pedro Neto playing more minutes than the 33 year old.
This season has seen a huge increase in his defensive output, registering fifteen tackles in the Premier League, only four shy of his season total for the 22/23 season. This season he has registered a tackle in eight of his nine starts, racking up a whopping five last time out at Bournemouth. Centre back tackles are solid against Newcastle also, with Schlotterbeck and Hummels registering six between them in the Champions League midweek.
Schar tackles have also been very consistent this season, registering one in eight of his last nine games, similar to Dawson. With a total of twelve tackles across these games and the fact that all but three centre backs have registered a tackle against Wolves this season, it looks a nice way in with a bet builder for this late kick-off.
With a return to the starting XI looking likely for the Portuguese full back, it’s a game he will be much needed for in order to contain the lively Anthony Gordon.
Semedo isn’t shy of going into the book and has a rather impressive record of doing so. He picked up bookings in two of his last four games last season and that trend has continued into 23/24 where has has managed four bookings in just eight Premier League games.
He will also be forced to contain one of the most fouled players in the league this season. Gordon has been fouled 2.4 times per game and right-sided defenders facing Newcastle have been booked in three of the last six games, with Marius Wolf of Dortmund going into the book midweek despite a poor booking record.
