Wimbledon Day 12 Predictions
This match is shaping up to be a cracker. Medvedev, a US Open winner and five-time Slam runner-up, has surged to the Wimbledon semi-finals for the second successive year. He was eliminated at this stage last year by...Carlos Alcaraz...but he has since avenged that loss with a victory over the Spaniard in the US Open semi-finals. Furthermore, he will be brimming with confidence after defeating the No.1 seed Jannik Sinner in five sets in the previous round.
Alcaraz, who defeated Medvedev in straight sets and then emerged victorious against Novak Dojokovic in the final last year, has a 4-2 head-to-head record against the Russian, with wins in their last two meetings. However, Medvedev leads 2-1 in Slam duels.
Medvedev's odds stand at 11/4 to increase his Slam record to 3-1, while Alcaraz is the short-priced favourite with bookmakers at 3/10: the Spaniard, in five sets, presents good value at 5/1 with BoyleSports.
The preceding game will feature Lorenzo Musetti against Novak Djokovic on Centre Court. Djokovic received a stroke of luck by advancing to the semi-finals without playing due to Alex de Minaur's withdrawal. As a result, the 24-time Grand Slam champion should be well-prepared for the semi-finals, and I anticipate him putting an end to Musetti's impressive run as he bids to secure his 37th Grand Slam final.
Musetti had never advanced beyond the fourth round of a Grand Slam until this year's Wimbledon. The 25th seed has already played three four-set matches and two five-set matches, including an impressive comeback against Taylor Fritz in the previous round. Despite Djokovic being the clear favorite, Musetti is a good bet to win a set on Friday at odds of 17/20 with BetMGM. Additionally, he is priced at 13/2 (10Bet) to lose in five sets; as was the case last month in his five set French Open defeat to Djokovic.
