Fresh from a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Olympiacos in the Europa League, West Ham United aim to translate that success to the Premier League. Lucas Paqueta's decisive goal in midweek secured a crucial victory, leaving the Hammers on the brink of Europa League progression. However, their domestic form has been less stellar, marked by three consecutive defeats, including a 3-2 loss to Brentford.
West Ham welcome back Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez from suspension for the Nottingham Forest clash. However, there's concern over Kurt Zouma, still recovering from an injury that sidelined him against Olympiacos, making his availability uncertain. With Zouma's return doubtful, Dinos Mavropanos could step in and Moyes will be contemplating the inclusion of Alphonse Areola in goal as well as Michail Antonio up top, despite Jarrod Bowen's recent performances in the striker role.
Nottingham Forest enter this fixture with renewed confidence following their impressive 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. The win, which ended their winless run in the league, provides a boost for Steve Cooper's side. Currently placed 13th in the standings with a comfortable seven-point gap from the relegation zone, Forest face the challenge of improving their away form. Struggling to score in their last three away games against formidable opponents, Forest seek to capitalize on West Ham's recent Premier League struggles.
Nottingham Forest face uncertainties regarding left-back Harry Toffolo, who was substituted during their victory over Aston Villa. Toffolo's potential absence might reshuffle the defence, possibly moving Ola Aina back to left-back, with Serge Aurier and Neco Williams vying for the right-back spot. Meanwhile, a series of injuries rule out Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood, Felipe, and Divock Origi, while a question mark hangs over the availability of Gonzalo Montiel.
West Ham vs Nottingham Forest Tips
Forest have impressed me in recent weeks and coming off the back of a 2-0 win against Villa, who are looking extremely good, will be a huge boost for morale. This will be a game that Forest believe they can win and I think they will give it a good go at the London Stadium.
Forest shots can be hit and miss, but this looks a line that’s more than achievable against a leaky West Ham side. Given an early lead and going two up against Villa, they only managed seven shots, while in the game previous against Liverpool this bet lost by just one shot. However, they do have some better stats in the previous couple of games where they registered nineteen v Luton and sixteen v Palace.
The main hook to this selection is the data against West Ham. This bet has landed against West Ham in every single Premier League fixture this season! With Forest eager to move up the table, it's likely they’ll have a good go on Sunday afternoon.
Taking the same angle as the main selection, but taking the higher lines, is my second selection. This may appeal to those who want a lower risk, higher reward kind of play and the data supports it.
This longshot has landed twice for Forest this season, against both Luton and Sheffield United, and given the right circumstances it could go close again.
West Ham's opposition have been firing the shots and across their eleven Premier League outings this season, their opposition have landed this 10/1 line a whopping seven times, with Bournemouth going close and failing by just one shot. Even both newly promoted sides Sheffield United and Luton managed to clear these lines when facing West Ham and there's every chance it can be cleared yet again at huge odds.
