West Ham Trophy Odds: Can David Moyes win silverware and inspire a top-four finish?

West Ham’s last major trophy success dates back a whopping 41 years to their FA Cup final victory under manager John Lyall, while they’ve never finished in the top-four during the Premier League era.
But could their long-awaited quest for silverware and pursuit of the glitz and glamour of Champions League football soon come to en end under their current boss David Moyes?
Over the weekend Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel became the latest top manager to crumble at the hands of Moyes’ West Ham, who came from behind to secure a superb 3-2 victory at home to the current European Champions.
The win came a month after Moyes’ men had beaten Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool by the same scoreline, while the Scot has also scalped Tottenham and Leicester in the league, as well as Pep Guardiola’s Man City and Man Utd in the League Cup.
They are also flying in Europe too.
West Ham’s excellent start puts them 4th in the Premier League with 27 points from 15 matches. They are eight points off the summit, and two points above Antonio Conte’s Spurs in 5th, albeit the latter have a game in hand. Ralf Rangnick’s Man Utd are a further point behind in 6th.
Moyes cooked up a remarkable 6th place finish last season - just two points off 4th - and he was unlucky not to bag the LMA Manager of the Year award as a result, but this term he could well surpass 6th - and even 5th - with the Hammers priced at 4/1 to secure a top-four finish: they were out at 18/1 at the start of the season.
Premier League top-four finish odds (selected)
There are still 23 Premier League matches left to be played this season, yet the fact Moyes has outwitted so many elite managers in various competitions will give his side buckets of belief heading into the festive period where they face trips to Burnley and Arsenal, followed by home clashes against Norwich and Southampton, while their final league game of 2021 is a visit to Watford. Plenty of winnable games in there.
West Ham do of course have the chance to book their place in next season’s Champions League via the Europa League.
The Hammers have dominated Group H, accumulating 13 points from five games, which has sealed their spot in the knockout stages. The Champions League dropouts will appear in the next round, however at the time of writing West Ham are the 11/1 favourites to win their first European accolade since the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
West Ham also have a League Cup quarter-final to look forward to against Tottenham.
So far they’ve beaten Man Utd at Old Trafford, then shocked holders Man City on penalties in the previous round. It was the first time that Pep Guardiola had been knocked out of the competition since 2016.
West Ham can be backed at 23/10 (Bet365) to beat Conte’s Spurs (Wednesday 22nd December), and are priced at 8/1 (SBK) to lift the League Cup for the first time in their history: they previously reached the final in 1965/66 and 1980/81.
SBK have the club priced at 42/1 to win the League Cup and finish in the top-four.

The FA Cup second round took place over the previous weekend, while the eagerly anticipated third round is scheduled to be played between 7th and 10th January, 2022. - the draw is at 7pm tonight (Monday 6th December).
West Ham have lifted the famous trophy on three occasions - 1963/64, 1974/75, 1979/80 - while they last reached the final under Alan Pardew in 2005/06; heartbreakingly losing on penalties to a Steven Gerrard-inspired Liverpool.
There’s obviously a long way to go in this season’s FA Cup, but at the time of writing Moyes’ troops can be backed at 23/1 with Bet Victor.
