With all four teams in Group B currently level on three points, all is to play for in the final round of matches, with the winner of Ukraine and Argentina guaranteed a place in the knockout stage.
Ukraine left it late to secure a win on Saturday against Morocco with a goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win. Ukraine had been reduced to ten men when Volodymyr Salyuk was given his marching orders, but the Blue and Yellows fought back well to give themselves a chance of progressing to the latter stages.
Argentina managed a 3-1 win over Iraq on Saturday with goals from Thiago Almada, Luciano Gondou and Ezquiel Fernandez. All four matches that have involved Ukraine and Argentina so far in France have featured at least three goals and with qualification for the knockout stage at stake here, I’m surprised to see Over 2.5 goals on offer at 10/13 with BetMGM.
Argentina won the Gold Medal at the men's Olympic football tournament in 2004 and 2008 and Javier Mascherano’s men will be looking to end a run of failing to advance beyond the group stage since their triumph in Beijing.
After their defeat by Morocco in their opener, Argentina showed their quality and put in a much better showing against Iraq. The team have been booed by some of the French spectators due to their World Cup win in 2022 and also because of Enzo Fernandez’s comments on Instagram.
The side will be using this as motivation to show the host nation and the watching world that this is their tournament for the taking. At 7/4 I feel it’s worth taking a punt on Argentina to lay down a marker and win the game by at least two goals with the -1 Match Handicap.
