Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester Predictions: Back Spurs to dominate in the capital

Leicester City travel to London to take on Spurs on Sunday afternoon with the game kicking off at 2pm. This is the only one of three Premier League games that will not be shown on Sky Sports on Sunday, but we’ve tasked our resident tipster @AnthonyEadson to preview the match and provide us with his best bets.
Heading into the weekend Spurs are fifth in the table, two points behind Arsenal in fourth with both North London rivals having played 33 matches. Tottenham are currently 6/4 to qualify for the Champions League next season and this is a key game to ensure that all is to play for when the two face each other on 12 May.
Leicester are tenth in the table and can now only qualify for the Europa League via winning the Europa Conference League. The Foxes suffered a 1-0 defeat in their semi-final first leg against Roma on Thursday evening and Brendan Rodgers may well shuffle his deck in order to focus on their trip to Italy next week.
Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga, and Matt Doherty all remain sidelined through injury for the hosts, while Ryan Sessegnon came off after 15 minutes against Brentford and may well be replaced by Sergio Reguilon.
Timothy Castagne picked up a head injury against Roma and is likely to miss the trip to London for Leicester. Wilfred Ndidi and Ryan Bertrana are also missing through injury with the former Premier League champions failing to win ten of their last eleven league matches on the road.
Spurs vs Leicester Tips
The first selection I’ve taken a lean towards in this match is for Spurs to be winning both at half-time and at full-time. This is available through the ‘Bet Boosts’ on this game from bet365 and looks to be the industry top-price at the time of writing, with others such as Unibet going even money about the same selection.
I’m expecting a big performance here from Spurs. The top-four is still well up for grabs and after dropped points against Brentford and Brighton, Antonio Conte will be expecting a reaction. His side have had much longer to prepare for this game than their opponents and after failing to register a shot on target in their last two matches, their supporters will be demanding more.
This seems like the perfect time to play Leicester for Spurs. A quick turnaround after a hard fought game with Roma on Thursday night should give them an edge when it comes to being slightly more fresh. There’s also a good chance here that Brendan Rodgers may decide to rest a few of his bigger names in order to concentrate on the second leg in Rome.
Spurs have been winning at half time in five of their last six victories in the Premier League and with Dejan Kulusevski adding to an already potent front-line they have the ability to rack up the goals against a jaded Leicester on Sunday.
I’ll also be having a bit of small change on Son Heung-min to score and Rodrigo Bentancur to be carded. This is available at 10/1 with bet365 via their Bet Builder feature with the singles being priced at even money for Son to score and 9/2 on the Bentancur card. Both of those appear to be the top-price available from the big firms at the time of writing.
Sonny has enjoyed another fantastic season at Spurs and he needs just one more goal in the league to better his highest ever total in a single campaign of 17 in 2020/2021. His 17 goals this season have come in just 30 appearances and when we look at his record on home soil, it improves to 11 goals in 16 appearances. The South Korean has six goals in his last five appearances for Spurs and I’m backing him to fire past the Foxes to make it seven.
Paired with Son to score is Rodrigo Bentancur to be carded. Since his arrival in January from Juventus, the Uruguayan has been shown four yellow cards in just 11 starts in the Premier League. The midfielder has a proven history of card collecting with his former employers picking up six yellows and a red last season in 33 matches as well as nine yellows in 30 matches the season prior in Serie A.
Another thing to note here is that Harry Kane loves playing against Leicester. The Spurs talisman has more goals against them than any other club in his career, netting 18 goals in 17 appearances. However, bet365 seem to have cottoned on to this and have priced him at just 1/2 to score anytime. For this reason, I’ve sided with Son over Kane who makes a much better proposition at even money to find the net having scored five more goals than his strike partner this season.
