Southampton vs. Liverpool Betting Tips: A massive stats based 28/1 bet-builder for Tuesday night

There's another huge game taking place in the Premier League on Tuesday evening. Liverpool simply have to beat Southampton or the title is essentially Manchester City's. We've asked our resident statto @OddsT3rrier to take a dive into the recent history between the two sides, and look into this season's stats to see if there are any angles which you can use to your betting advantage. He's also selected...
Southampton vs. Liverpool Tips
These two clubs have played 93 times in the league over the years, with Liverpool dominating the fixture as you would expect, picking up 47 wins to Saints' 25 and 21 have ended up all square.
The first seven games between the two were in the FA Cup, with the first meeting back in 1902 - a 4-1 win for Southampton. It took until 1960 before the clubs finally met up in Division One - and another 4-1 win for Saints! The same scoreline tonight is a 200/1 shot if you fancy it...
In recent times, again The Reds have been on top in this contest, winning seven of the last eight match-ups. The sole Saints win was a 1-0 win last year, courtesy of a Danny Ings goal. What would Man City give for a repeat tonight?

Onto the player props and first we delve into the cards markets. The serial offender Fabinho isn't fit enough to be risked here and therefore we move down to the next in line - Jan Bednarek. The 26-year-old Pole has been decent for Saints this year and has bagged some vital goals from set pieces. However, in 30 starts he has picked up 10 yellow cards, including five in his last nine. Against the likes of Jota, Mane and Diaz tonight, he looks a fair bet to pick up another. The 9/2 single at bet365 definitely appeals here.

We move into the shots and goals markets and of course, it's Liverpool who massively dominate these. Mane, Jota, Firmino and even Origi are all massively odds-on to register a shot on target but I'm going to up the ante a little, by taking Luis Díaz to notch 2+ shots on target at 5/4.
The 25-year-old Colombian looks like the signing of the season and should step straight into Mo Salah's shoes when he eventually decides to leave The Reds. Diaz has notched 13 shots on target in 10 starts and has cleared this line in five games this season. Here he is up against one of the least in-form sides in the division and Liverpool will be desperate to make up the goal difference on City.
The last pick is for the Saints talisman James Ward-Prowse to have a shot on target. Prowse leads Southampton for goals, shots and is second in shots on target. As one of the Premier League's best ever set piece specialists, the 27-year-old is a constant threat from dead ball opportunities and this pick has landed in five of his last seven outings - whilst playing for a team who look sat firmly on the beach.
Combining the three picks into a Paddy Power bet-builder gives us a lovely boosted price of just under 29/1. I'll be having a small nibble on it as well as taking the Bednarek single. You can load the betslip directly using the link below.
