Sheffield Utd vs. Man Utd Betting Tips: Best bets from Bramall Lane

Two teams at opposite ends of the Premier League spectrum are set to clash as Sheffield United, who are yet to secure a victory this season, face Manchester United Saturday evening at 20:00 live on Sky Sports. Our man Dean Woodward is on hand to preview the action and provide us with his best bets.
The Blades have been struggling since their promotion from the Championship, with only one point from eight games. Their 3-1 defeat against Fulham was marred by a significant injury to Chris Basham. They'll aim to improve their defence, having conceded the highest number of goals in the league with twenty-two. Despite the challenges, they are only three points away from safety and hope to turn their fortunes around.
Sheffield United face an injury crisis with long-term absences for Chris Basham, John Egan, and Tom Davies, while Daniel Jebbison is unavailable due to illness. Several players, including Rhys Norrington-Davies, Ben Osborn, Max Lowe, George Baldock, and William Osula, are nearing returns but might not feature in the upcoming game. Jack Robinson is expected to replace the injured Basham. In midfield, James McAtee and John Fleck are competing for a start, and Benie Traore, Oli McBurnie, and Cameron Archer are vying for an attacking role.
Manchester United are also facing difficulties, with Erik ten Hag overseeing the club's worst-ever start to a top-flight season in 34 years. The Red Devils secured a dramatic 2-1 win against Brentford before the international break, providing some relief for the embattled manager. Amid ongoing ownership issues, they seek to close the gap that separates them from the top spots in the league. Manchester United have a strong record against promoted teams and aim to secure back-to-back away wins, which has eluded them so far in 2023. This matchup presents an opportunity for both teams to make a statement and change their fortunes.
For Manchester United, injuries have struck with Casemiro out due to a minor issue, joining a list that includes Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, and Kobbie Mainoo. Jadon Sancho is also set to miss out. While there are doubts about Sofyan Amrabat's availability, Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon are expected to be fit. Their return would likely lead to Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans making way. Scott McTominay may start in central midfield, and the attacking trio will likely consist of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund.
Sheffield Utd vs Man Utd Tips
- Sheff Utd Under18.5 throws & Under 11.5 shots – 20/21 (Bet 365 1.5units)
- Sheff Utd Under 16.5 throws, & Under 7.5 shots – 11/2 (bet365 0.25 units)
Digging deep into the prop markets has led me to taking a bet builder which involves both throws and shots in an attempt to double our stake.
When looking at the throw markets, throws against United are mega low this season and even at the back end of last season. Manchester United's last fifteen matches in all competitions have seen their opposition register under 18.5 throws and it's hard to see that trend changing. Sheffield United have some okay throw numbers since stepping into the Premier League, having gone under in five of their eight games, only going over this line in the three games where they had +45% possession which seems unlikely against Manchester United.
Since rejoining the Premier League, it has been tough for the Blades, who have failed to have over 11.5 shots in six of their eight games, with a very low average of 8.9 per game. Manchester United have failed to run away with any game this season and as long as this game stays relatively close on the score front, it's hard to see Sheffield United miraculously finding their shooting boots.
A small stake long shot that given the right circumstances could go close on Saturday night. Using the same angles as the main bet but tweaking the lines lower really gives us a juicier price.
Lowering the throws to 16.5 becomes a line that has still gone under for Manchester United opposition in twelve of their last fifteen matches, which is priced odds against as a single. Also lowering the Sheffield United shot line takes this double up to 11/2. Sheffield United have still had under 7.5 shots in four of their eight Premier League matches, with this larger priced builder winning against both Spurs and Man City this season.
