The Blades sit rock bottom of the Premier League table on 16 points, 10 points adrift of safety with six matches remaining. Chris Wilder’s men lost their last league match 2-0 against Brentford, extending their winless streak to eight (W0 D3 L5).
Burnley occupy 19th in the standings having collected 20 points in total over the course of the campaign. The Clarets still have a chance to escape the relegation zone, with six points between themselves and Nottingham Forest who are 17th.
Sheffield United vs Burnley Tips
The last time these two sides met in December, Burnley came out 5-0 winners at Turf Moor, however we think a repeat is highly unlikely this time round. Despite some poor results, Sheffield United have shown more fight under Chris Wilder and we’ve been impressed with his January loan signing Ben Brereton Diaz.
The former Blackburn man has scored four Premier League goals in his eight appearances since swapping Spain for South Yorkshire, but it’s the ‘to be carded’ market we like the look of him here.
In his last five matches Brereton Diaz has been shown three yellow cards as Sheffield United have tried to steer themselves towards safety. Saturday is simply a must win game for Wilder’s side and at 3/1 we fancy Brereton to stick the boot in against his former rivals when at Blackburn.
Sheffield United’s Oli McBurnie has been involved in eight goals in his last eight Premier League home games, scoring six and providing two assists. The only game in this run in which he hasn’t registered a goal or assist was in the Blades’ 6-0 defeat to Arsenal at the start of March and we fancy him to find the net again here.
At 12/1, we are backing McBurnie to score twice in the match. The Scot has scored on two of his last three starts, netting against both Fulham and Chelsea. Sheffield United have scored five goals across their last two home matches and can find more joy against a Burnley defence that has not kept a clean sheet since December 23rd 2023.
