Report: Which Club Has Benefitted The Most From The Premier League ‘Big Six’ Spending?

There are still well over two months until the transfer window closes for England’s Premier League clubs. Though we’re interested in seeing what the newly promoted Fulham, Bournemouth and especially ghost of Premier League past Nottingham Forest get up to, the headlines and cooler chat will once again revolve around the antics of the so-called ‘Big Six’ clubs: Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and champions Manchester City. Denoting the clubs with the greatest power, wealth and profile, these institutions perpetually dictate the top positions of the Premier League table, pulling the biggest crowds (yes, even City) and biggest players to their homeground. It’s admirable when the likes of Leicester City, West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers have managed to jostle their way in and hold their own, for the European Super League seemingly exists in all but name.
Spending will once again likely be stratospheric this summer. BettingOdds.com has now looked at the outlay of the Big Six over the past decade, since 2011, to see the clubs which have benefitted the most from the splurge, and provided a comprehensive list of the top twenty clubs who have collected the most millions. The study takes into consideration all transfers between 2011 and 2021. In total, the Big Six have spent a combined £6,569,150,000 between them during this period.
The list is in fact topped by the European champions Real Madrid, who have sold eight players to the Big Six across this period for a total of £318.2m. Borussia Dortmund narrowly beat Southampton into second place, having sold £273.62m worth of footballer to Southampton’s £273.25m.
Alongside Saints, there are three other Premier League clubs in the top ten: Leicester City (4th, six players, £250.48m), Aston Villa (9th, seven players, £176.829m) and Everton (10th, six players, £173.23m). It is also Southampton that tops the list for clubs who have provided the most players to the Big Six, sharing the prestige with none other than Barcelona. The two outfits have each sold 14 players to Big Six clubs since 2011. Take a look at the full lists below.
