Last weekend QPR secured a hugely important victory by seeing off Preston North End thanks to a solitary goal from Lyndon Dykes. That win saw Rangers rise to 18th in the table having accrued 50 points, leaving them four points above the relegation zone. A win on Friday would see Marti Cifuentes’ side secure their second-tier status for next season.
Leicester’s emphatic 5-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday evening means that the Foxes have one hand on the Championship trophy as they hold a four point lead over second placed Leeds United with two games remaining. Securing the second automatic promotion spot is the objective for Farke’s side but they will be well aware that Ipswich are breathing down their necks, just one point behind and also having a game in hand.
QPR vs Leeds Tips
Leeds cannot afford any slip ups in the capital on Friday and confidence should be high after a thrilling 4-3 win at the road at Middlesbrough on Monday. Crysencio Summerville bagged a brace in that game at the Riverside and we are backing him to find the net again here at the generous looking price of 9/5 with LiveScoreBet.
Only Adam Armstrong (20) and Sammie Szmodics (25) have scored more Championship goals this season than Summerville who has 19 to his name. Four of those goals have arrived in his last six appearances and he has been a crucial figure in helping to hopefully steer Leeds back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The 22-year-old scored against QPR in the reverse fixture back in October and can do so again here.
For those looking for something at a bigger price we’ve taken a punt on Jack Colback to be carded and Georginio Rutter to provide an assist anytime in the match at 10/1 with bet365.
No player has been shown more cards for Queens Park Rangers this season than 34-year-old Coldback who has collected 12 yellows and one red in total. A large proportion of the thinking behind him being booked on Friday is that he will have to help take care of Georginio Rutter who is the Championship’s most fouled player this season. Rutter has been fouled 111 times in total this campaign - 19 more than any other player in the division.
As well as being the most fouled player, Rutter also ranks second in the division for assists in 2023/24. Only Leif Davis (17) of Ipswich has set up more goals over the course of the campaign than Rutter. This double pays just 11/2 with Sky Bet, so we think the 10/1 on offer with bet365 holds a little bit of value as the season draws to a close.
