This upcoming match marks the eighth encounter between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund in European competitions. So far, each team has claimed victory twice, with three of those ending in draws. Interestingly, all four wins between the pair have been secured by the home team.
Despite Niclas Fullkrug scoring the only goal of the game in the first leg PSG are still the favourites to advance to the final. The Parisiens can be backed at 8/11 in the ‘To Qualify’ market, while Dortmund are 6/5 to make it to the final at Wembley on June 1st.
In terms of the match result on Tuesday evening, PSG are odds-on at 9/20. The visitors are out at 9/2, while the draw can be sided with at 4/1.
PSG vs Borussia Dortmund Tips
Paris-Saint Germain let off more shots in the first leg than Dortmund and we think they can come out on top here. Luis Enrique’s men also played Dortmund twice in the group stage of the competition, managing a 1-1 draw out in Germany and a comfortable 2-0 win on home soil.
The French outfit have racked up considerably more expected goals across those three meetings with Dortmund over the course of the campaign and with the tournament’s top-scorer Kylian Mbappe they have the firepower to rack up several goals.
Dortmund have however scored in nine consecutive Champions League matches this season and have the pace to hurt the hosts on the break. PSG have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven matches across all formats and backing them to win the game with both teams scoring looks the appropriate play here.
Champions League semi-final second legs can often have high-card counts with the ultimate prize of a final on the line. Referee Daniele Orsato takes the whistle for this clash and he’s one of the better officials for getting the cards out, having dished out five yellows in Manchester City’s quarter-final second leg tie with Real Madrid this season.
The first of two players we are backing to be carded is Julian Ryerson who will be up against Kylian Mbappe. Ryerson has collected five yellow cards for Edin Terzic’s side this season. He has given away seven fouls across his last four European outings and could be in for a long night against one of the world’s best attackers.
The other Dortmund full-back we are backing to find their way into the book is Ian Mattsen. After playing in the Championship last season for Burnley, it’s been a remarkable 12 months for the Chelsea loanee who is now on the verge of a Champions League final.
Maatsen was carded in the first leg and will again be having to take care of Ousmane Dembele who was fouled three times in the first leg. There is no worry about a suspension with cards being wiped for the final and combining him to be booked along with Ryerson pays 9/1 with Midnite.
