Preston vs. Nottingham Forest Predictions: Expect a low scoring feisty affair

Preston vs. Nottingham Forest Odds
Tuesday night sees five games taking place in the Championship, after the late postponement at Swansea. We have previews and best bets on site for all the games which you can find in our Championship hub. We have asked our EFL expert @OddsTerrier to check out the game at Deepdale between Preston North End and Nottingham Forest and he's got a couple of nice bets for you to look at.
Preston vs. Nottingham Forest Tips
Both sides come into this Championship fixture desperate for a win after disappointing weekends respectively. Preston lost 3-2 at home to lowly Reading, after a great run of six matches without defeat which saw them drop to 12th in the table. Forest, on the other hand, are still raging after the late postponement of their Friday night away game at Bournemouth, which wasn't only abandoned due to storm damage to The Vitality Stadium, but The Cherries refused to play the game the following day - a decision that left some at Forest accusing Bournemouth of pulling out on purpose due to injuries in the squad.
Steve Cooper's men have been on a great run but a draw and a loss in their last three games have seen their playoff charge stall somewhat and they badly need three points here at Deepdale. Ryan Lowe's PNE, will similarly be targeting a win here at home if they are going to make a late push for a playoff campaign.
I expect this one to be a cagey affair with minimal goals and perhaps one moment of real quality will settle it. I was between the twin youth threat of Preston loanee Cameron Archer and Nottingham Forest wonderkid Brennan Johnson but have plumped for the latter. The 20-year-old Welsh international has been a revelation this season with 15 goal involvements in just 30 starts for the club, including nine Championship goals. He leads The Tricky Trees in shots (58) and shots on target (23) for the season and is displaying the same eye for goal that he showed on loan at Lincoln City last season, where he also picked up 11 goals.
bet365 have boosted the price on Johnson to score anytime to 15/4 from 11/4 and I will be taking this as my main selection.
My 2nd pick is a bet builder double of under 3 goals and James Garner to be carded.
The first element of the bet stems from the fact that this fixture has seen under 2.5 goals in all competitions for the last seven occasions. Four of the last six head-to-heads between the two have seen under 2.5 goals land. Before Preston's defeat to Reading, the Lilywhites had seen just two goals scored in their last four games and under Ryan Lowe have generally looked a lot more solid in defence. Forest have been fairly free scoring but after a disappointing 2-2 draw with Stoke last time out will be looking to play more conservatively, especially at the back.
James Garner forms the second part of the bet builder and the 20-year-old Manchester United loanee has caught my eye in the to be carded market. Garner has accumulated 25 fouls in just 21 starts which compares very similarly to last seasons stats. However, this year he has already picked up six yellow cards in comparison to just one last year, which suggests he is putting a little bit more bite into his tackles. Playing defensive midfield in an attacking team is always going to relate to last ditch, cynical challenges and he has picked up three in his last four games so isn't afraid to pull the trigger.
The double pays a little over 6/1 at bet365 and I'll be having a small stake on it.
Good luck if you follow any of these selections and gamble responsibly.
