Premier League Predictions & Tips
Arsenal to win the Premier League @ 21/10 - 1pt (Bet365) - 25% winnings boost
Manchester City edged out Arsenal for the second successive season to lift the Premier League trophy for a record fourth consecutive campaign. They have been relentless under Pep Guardiola but the Gunners can hold their head high after pushing the Citizens all the way, falling just two points behind them last season.
They won 16 of their last 18 games but it still wasn’t enough to snatch the title from the defending champions. However, they won a league-high 49 points in 2024 and picked up a huge 22 points in their 10 games against the traditional big six rivals, with Manchester City only picking up 15. Arsenal were the best team in the league last season on the expected points metric and possessed the best defence in the league, having conceded just 29 goals all season, five fewer than Guardiola’s men.
The Gunners conceded a total of just 28.4 expected goals over the course of last season which was the lowest xG conceded by any team across Europe’s top five leagues. They have further strengthened their defence by making David Raya’s loan a permanent signing and adding the Italian centre back Ricardo Calafiori to their ranks, while talks are ongoing to sign versatile midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.
Despite not having a 20 plus goals striker in their team, Arsenal managed to score 91 goals last season, just five fewer than Manchester City with Erling Haaland scoring a league-high 27 goals for them. With Julian Alvarez leaving for Atletico Madrid, City will not have the same attacking depth in their squad and while they could yet still make another attacking signing, Alvarez’s significance cannot be underestimated as he had a stellar 32 goal contributions across all competitions. City still go into the season as the favourites but having pushed them right till the very end for the last two seasons, I believe this could finally be Arsenal’s year as they aim to win their first Premier League title in 20 years. Bet365 are offering a 25% winnings boost when you back this selection with them.
David Raya Golden Glove Winner @ 11/5 - 0.5pt (Betway)
With a rock solid defence ahead of him, David Raya claimed the Golden Glove last season with 16 clean sheets last season having played 32 games. This time round he should be in for a full 38-game season after his loan from Brentford was made permanent. Gabriel and Saliba’s centre back pairing has been by far the best partnership in the entire division and they have further strengthened by adding the Italian Calafiori to their defensive ranks. With Jurren Timber also set to return from injury, teams will find it hard to breach Arsenal’s defence this season and David Raya is a deserved favourite to clinch a second successive Golden Glove this season.
25/1 Longshot pick
Haaland & Isak to score 20+ EPL goals each, Nkunku 10+ EPL goals, West Ham finish in top half & Southampton relegated @ 25/1 - 0.25pt (PaddyPower - Under #WhatOdds Paddy 25-1 to 79/1 section)
I have combined five selections for a solid 25/1 shout for the premier league season with a realistic chance of landing. Having scored 36 and 27 goals in his two seasons at Manchester City, Erling Haaland looks set to break the 20 goal barrier once again this season as he looks to win the Premier League Golden Boot for the third consecutive time.
Having started just 27 games last season due to a groin injury, Isak finished as the third top scorer with 21 goals. His 0.84 goals per game is only bettered by Erling Haaland and he is also expected to be on penalty duties. Isak finished last season in prolific form, scoring 11 goals in his final 12 league games and should be a great contender to hit 20 goals again this season.
Nkunku scored 36 goals in his final two Bundesliga campaigns before missing most of last season for Chelsea due to an injury. However, he has been mightily impressive in preseason, scoring three goals in five appearances and constantly getting into dangerous areas. With his clinical finishing and the creativity of the players like Cole Palmer around him, I expect him to comfortably breach that 10 goal milestone this season for Chelsea.
West Ham finished inside the top half last season (9th) with 52 points but have stolen the headlines in the transfer market this time around having secured the likes of Summerville from Leeds United, Fulkrug from Dortmund, Aaron Wan Bissaka from Manchester United, Max Kilman from Wolves and centre-back Jean-Claire Todibo from Nice. With heavy investment in the team, they will have big aspirations for the coming season and considering there are no European football distractions this season, their sole focus will be the Premier League and I am backing them to comfortably finish in the top half again.
For the final selection, we’re backing newly promoted Southampton to go straight back down to the Championship. Having lost both Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong for free as well as Caleta-Car, Lyanco and Romain Perraud departing for minimal fees, they have lost a lot of key players ahead of their Premier League campaign. Another important defender Bella-Kotchap seems to be on his way to the German side Hoffenheim. While they added the likes of Flynn Downes, Brereton Diaz, Ronnie Edwards and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, the squad still looks far from complete and survival looks like a massive task for Russell Martin’s men.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly
