Premier League Odds: All of the prices for next season’s winner

The top-flight kicks off in just under four weeks' time, so it’s only right that we should take a look at the prices in the division’s main Premier League odds market - the outright winner.
Manchester City - 8/11 (favourite)
Manchester City dominated proceedings last term, avenging their lacklustre campaign in 2019-20 when Liverpool breezed their way to the title for the first time in 30 years. This season it is Pep Guardiola’s side who unsurprisingly head up the betting at 8/11. The Cityzens have undoubtedly got the most strength-in-depth and could be further bolstered by the arrival of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish in the coming weeks.
Should the club decide to once again break the bank and land either (or both) of those players, it is almost impossible to see anyone beating them to the league title in 2021/22. Even if they don’t, Guardiola’s ultra-talented crop have more than enough about them to retain their status as England’s best team, though at such a short price we wouldn’t be rushing to back them unless it was as part of a girthy ante-post accumulator.
Chelsea - 5/1
Chelsea have been transformed since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard back in January. The Blues cemented another top-four finish last term alongside reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup and winning the Champions League.
This season, the west London club’s focus will shift from finishing in the top-four to challenging City and Liverpool for the title, and quality-wise they certainly have enough about them to do so. Chelsea are being heavily-linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund goalbot Erling Haaland, and if they could pull off such a deal then their chances of winning silverware next term will be given a sizable boost.
The Norwegian marksman is valued at around £130m by Dortmund, but the snag is that he will be available to suitors for £68m this time next year due to a clause drawn into his current deal at the Westfalenstadion. From a financial standpoint, waiting 12 months is the correct decision, but then Chelsea would face competition from practically every super club on the planet for Haaland’s services.
If Roman Abramovich does decide to exert his chequebook this window, though, then expect Chelsea’s outright odds - which currently stand at 5/1 - to quickly shorten.
Liverpool - 5/1
Liverpool are also 5/1 at the time of writing. The Reds endured a tough campaign last season which was riddled by injuries to some of their star men, most notably Virgil van Dijk. With the Dutchman returning to the fold for the coming campaign, alongside centre-back partner Joe Gomez, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be a lot more reassured at the back, making them a much stronger team heading into the new season.
With such a feared forward-line in the shape of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, this Liverpool side should not be overlooked for the league title. The addition of Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez would be massive should a deal between the two clubs be agreed, while it is likely that we will start to see more from Thiago Alcântara now that he has had time to find his feet on English shores.
Manchester United - 17/2
Manchester United still await their first Premier League title of the post-Ferguson era, but they have shown steady signs of improvement in recent campaigns. The signing of Bruno Fernandes last January has hugely benefited Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and last season they finished second and made it to a European final.
Jadon Sancho’s arrival at Old Trafford brings with it a huge amount of excitement for fans of the north-west club. The England forward is expected to flourish in his new surroundings and will hopefully replicate the form we all witnessed from him in Germany.
If United can acquire another central defender during the summer transfer window, they will suddenly become an incredibly strong contender for the title. Reports suggest Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane could be on his way to M16 in the coming weeks, while Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is another name being discussed as a potential new arrival for the 20-time English champions.
Tottenham - 40/1
Tottenham are 40/1 to win their first-ever Premier League title this season, but they’ll need to hang on to their star man, Harry Kane, to stand any chance of going the distance. Manchester City are touting a move for the Englishman, but as of yet no advances have been made by the reigning champions which means that, as it stands, the 27-year-old will remain in north London for the 2021/22 season.
Even with Kane spearheading the attack, Spurs will have their work cut out to finish above any of the four bookmaker favourites, especially with a new manager at the helm. Personally, I would be looking for longer odds than 40/1 if backing them to win the league, with a top-four finish a seemingly more realistic aim for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Leicester - 50/1
2015/16 champions Leicester are 50/1 in the outright winner market heading into this season. The Foxes were so unfortunate to miss out on a top-four finish last term, bowing out of the Champions League spaces at the 11th hour thanks to a poor run of form which was somewhat redeemed by them winning the FA Cup.
Brendan Rodgers has strengthened his squad with the signings of Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumaré and Ryan Bertrand this summer, and they will most likely be challenging for the top-four once again in 21/22. A serious title-challenge could prove too much of a stretch for the East Midlands outfit, though as we have seen before, they are not to be completely disregarded.
Arsenal - 66/1
Rounding off the list of favourites is Arsenal, who find themselves at 66/1 in the market. Mikel Arteta’s men finished eighth last season and have now failed to secure a top-four finish since 2016.
They have strengthened this summer by bringing in two new additions - Albert Lokonga from Anderlecht (£16m) and Nuno Tavares from Benfica (£7m) - so it remains to be seen if they can mount a serious charge for the Champions League places this time round. As far as the title is concerned, 66/1 is still way too short for my liking given the amount of quality their rivals possess.
