Plymouth vs. Ipswich Bettings Tips: League One leaders to remain unbeaten

Plymouth vs Ipswich Odds
League One leaders Ipswich look to increase their unbeaten start to the season to 10 matches when they make the trip down to 3rd-placed Plymouth on Sunday 25th September, a match that will be screened live on Sky Sports Main Event at 12.30pm.
Avoid defeat and Ipswich will remain top of the table, but Plymouth know that a victory would catapult them to the summit because the Portsmouth (2nd) game has been postponed.
Below, we bring you two tips for this tasty third-tier encounter…
Plymouth vs Ipswich Tips
After spending the second-half of last season adjusting to the complexities and challenges that life in the dugout throws at you, Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has rocketed out of the blocks this term. Nine games into the 2022/23 and McKenna has his troops up in first - on goal difference - having accumulated 21 points (W6 D3).
Ipswich have scored the second most goals (18), have the joint-best defence (6), they’ve amassed more points on the road (13) than any other team, while no player has scored more goals than Conor Chaplin (6).
However, Ipswich’s undefeated start will be put to the test in Devon this Sunday lunchtime away to a Plymouth side which have also looked razor sharp so far this term. Manager Steven Schumacher - who has reportedly received attention from Championship clubs - has his side 3rd in the table, two points behind Ipswich and Portsmouth. Plymouth’s home form is immaculate with four wins from four games, while they’re yet to even concede in front of their own fans.
It really does have the potential to be a cracking clash at Home Park as both clubs eye a statement win. Plymouth are priced at 5/2 to make it five wins from five games on their own patch, with Ipswich the 5/4 favourites to puncture the hosts’ home run, while a draw can be backed at 12/5.
Both teams bagged very creditable points on the road in their last league outings, with Ipswich drawing 2-2 at Sheff Wed (4th) and Plymouth recording the same scoreline at Portsmouth (2nd). However, there was a tinge of disappointment in both camps as they each led through to the final moments.
Another draw in another important League One duel stands out at 12/5 with Betfair. As confident as each side will be, neither will want to drop points as it would give the teams around them impetus.
Unlike Ipswich, Plymouth have been beaten this season, however both defeats came on the road. The Green Army have been superb at home where they’ve lost just once in 12 league games since February, remarkably keeping 11 clean sheets in the process.
No team has returned home from Home Park with even a point to their name so far this term, something which unbeaten Ipswich have every chance of changing. They are in cracking form, brimming with self-belief and eager to extend their lead at the top, while they’ve scored in every single game this season and netted at least two goals in each of their last five.
If there's one attacking player in particular that's thrived for Ipswich this season, it's Conor Chaplin.
The 25-year-old has six League One goals on the board so far this term - the joint most with Aaron Collins - five of which have come in his last five games, including a brace in the 2-0 win at Accrington.
Fresh off winning the PFA Vertu Motors’ Fans’ Player of the Month for August, Collins will be confident of breaching what has so far been an unpenetrable Plymouth defence at Home Park.
But the way Chaplin is playing right now means the home defence could be in for a long afternoon. He has three goals in his last three games on the road and is a best-priced 11/5 (bet365) to find the back of the net once again on Sunday.
