NFL Week 2 Odds and Tips: Our Spread Picks, Predictions and Best Prop Bets

The 2023 NFL season kicked off with a bang last week, providing us with all of the big drama and excitement we’ve come to love in this league. This is the place to find out the latest odds, our spread tips and the best prop bets for the Sunday slate of games of Week 2 of the NFL season.
Last week, the Lions shocked the Chiefs, the Cowboys shut out the Giants, Brock Purdy and the 49ers showed they are still legit, and Aaron Rodgers’ season (and possibly career) ended after four snaps in a Jets jersey. Week 2 has some mouth-watering matchups, and we've got all the odds for the games, as well as all our picks against the spread for the games on NFL Redzone this Sunday. You can also find our best prop bets for this weekend below our individual game tips.
Spread Pick: Bengals -3.5
It was a chastening defeat for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals last week but we’re backing them to bounce back. Despite the Ravens comfortably beating the Texans in week one, Todd Monken’s offence still had some teething problems and they will need to improve if they want to be genuine rivals to the Bengals for the AFC North. Burrow will bounce back here, and get the Bengals’ 2023 season underway.
Spread Pick: Packers -1.5
There will be some very smug Packers fans after Aaron Rodgers’ season ended four snaps into his Jets debut, while Jordan Love excelled for Green Bay. While it may be a bit early to declare Love as an undisputed franchise quarterback, the Packers still have loads of talent on both sides of the ball and should have enough to beat the Falcons.
Spread Pick: Chiefs -3.5
Very few people expected the Chiefs to start their season with a loss last week, even despite Travis Kelce and Chris Jones’s absence. This week those two are back and although they are playing an extremely talented Jacksonville side, they will be desperate to bounce back in front of their home fans.
Spread Pick: Lions -4.5
There was quite a lot of expectation amongst Seahawks fans that this could be a really impressive year. Geno Smith was fantastic last year, and there were a lot of young difference-makers on both sides of the ball. That all came crashing down when they were humbled by the Rams last week, where they looked poor after losing both starting tackles to injury. The Lions are a really good team and will compound the Seahawks' misery.
Our Pick: Raiders +8.5
Losing to a Rodgers-less Jets last week was not expected for Buffalo, and Josh Allen’s turnover issue seems to be still ongoing. If they want to be a serious contender in the AFC, Allen will need to fix that and the whole team will have to make fewer mistakes. The Raiders were unconvincing in their week one victory but will still keep it close here, losing narrowly.
Our Pick: Chargers
The Titans can’t keep relying on Derrick Henry forever, and yet they keep trying. Aside from a few moments were Henry destroyed some poor defenders, the Titans looked completely anaemic on offence in Week 1 and Ryan Tannehill may well lose his job soon. While the Chargers lost last week they still were very impressive on offence and will have enough to get past Tennessee.
Spread Pick: Bears +2.5
It was a really disappointing Week 1 for the Bears, losing to their bitter rivals in Green Bay after an off-season that provided fans with quite a lot of hope. Justin Fields was meant to make a big step up this season and still can if the coaching staff open up the playbook for him and his relationship with DJ Moore can improve. If that happens, the Bears can get their season rolling here.
Spead Pick: Colts -1
Both Anthony Richardson and CJ Stroud had decent moments in their debuts and still showed flashes of why they were picked high in the draft, but are still both quite raw. This game is incredibly hard to call between two teams that are expected to be two of the weaker teams in the NFL, so we’re going with home advantage here.
Our Pick: Rams +7.5
Despite Brock Purdy’s excellent rookie season, there were some fears that he wouldn’t be good enough to lead this 49ers team to championship glory this year. He allayed some of those fears in Week 1 by putting together an assured performance as his side brushed aside a solid Steelers team. The Rams really impressed last week and we’re picking them to keep the score within the 7.5 points that the bookies have given them as a handicap.
Spread Pick: Giants -4
The season could not have possibly started worse for the Giants, getting annihilated 40-0 by the Cowboys, and it is vital for Brian Daboll’s team to bounce back this week against a Cardinals team that are already planning for life with the number one overall pick (hello Caleb Williams). Yes, it was a terrible performance last week, but they should still be able to cover the four point spread this week.
Our Pick: Cowboys
Losing Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury after just four plays is further proof that this franchise is completely cursed, and while their plans on winning a Super Bowl may have to be put on hold, this defence is arguably the best in the league and they have tonnes of talent of offence. They should be able to keep it closer than nine points against a Dallas team that was exceptional in Week 1, but won’t be able to recreate a performance like that every week.
Our Pick: Commanders
The expectation that the Broncos would be massively improved under Sean Payton looked to be delayed when they were really average in defeat against the Raiders last week. The Commanders may be a better team than Las Vegas and we’re backing Sam Howell to back up his assured Week 1 win.
Best Prop Bets for Week 2
Justin Fields Over 173.5 Passing Yards
Dalton Kinkaid Under 30.5 Receiving Yards
Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown
Ja’Marr Chase Over 79.5 Receiving Yards
The Bears will be opening the playbook up for Fields this week after a stodgy Week 1 performance and will look to get DJ Moore involved early and often, giving Field the chance to throw for plenty of yards.
Rookie Tight Ends always struggle to pad the stat sheet and although he had a few touches in week 1, Buffalo will be looking to get an early lead and lean on their running game after that. For those reasons, 30.5 yards is too high of a line.
The Chiefs clearly missed their superstar tight end Kelce in their opening night defeat to the Lions, but he is back and active this week against Jacksonville, where he and Patrick Mahomes will be looking to show the Chiefs are still the team to beat in this league. Kelce could go off for a lot of fantasy points this week.
The Bengals will have to be better this week, and that will run through quarterback Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Chase is a mismatch for the Ravens’ secondary and they will look to take advantage of that - expect a big week for the former LSU receiver.
