Sheffield United set to sack Paul Heckingbottom
Paul Heckingbottom is set to become the first in-season Premier League manager to be sacked in 2023/24, according to BBC Sport.
Sheffield United suffered a damaging 5-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Burnley over the weekend, a result which leaves the confidence-crushed Blades rock-bottom of the table with just one win and five points from their opening 14 matches.
11 of those 14 games have ended in defeat with Heckingbottom's troops conceding a league-high 39 goals and scoring a league-low 11 goals down the other end of the pitch.

Chris Wilder favourite to become the next Sheffield United Manager
An extremely familiar face has been installed as the favourite in the newly opened next Sheffield United manager betting market.
The manager in question is Chris Wilder who, at the time of writing, can be backed as the hot 1/3 frontrunner with both Bet Victor and Parimatch.
A Blades legend, Wilder previously propelled his boyhood club from League One to 9th in the Premier League.
Wilder would then leave by mutual consent in March 2021 when the club were bottom of the Premier League, during a season that would eventually end in relegation.
The 56-year-old has since had short-lived spells at Middlesbrough (45 games) and Watford (11 games) - he left the latter at the end of last season - but is now being hotly linked with a remarkable return to Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United are next in action at home to Liverpool on Wednesday, which is swiftly followed by Brentford on Saturday.
If not Chris Wilder, then who?
Various media outlets are reporting that Sheffield United will turn to Wilder for a second spell in charge, however, if this doesn't come to fruition then who could the club turn to instead?
Another Blades icon in Neil Warnock is next in the betting at 14/1. The veteran boss, 75, famously led the Yorkshire club into the Premier League in 2006; one of eight promotions he's achieved during a managerial career that spans over 40 years, with his most recent spell coming at Huddersfield.
The unemployed trio of Frank Lampard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Graham Potter all follow at 16/1, ahead of Nathan Jones, Neil Lennon, and John Terry at 20/1, while a whole host of managers feature in the 25/1 bracket.
