Next Oldham Manager Odds: Early contenders to replace David Unsworth

Oldham Athletic are in familiar territory as they open up the search for a new manager following the sacking of David Unsworth.
Unsworth lasted longer than most - 51 games (W14 D18 L19) - but the former Everton interim manager paid the price for a seven-match winless run which left the Latics 22nd in the National League with just seven points on the board from a possible 27 so far this season.
Who could the struggling club turn to next? We've had a look at what the early odds are saying...
Stephen Clemence has emerged as the new favourite for the vacancy with bookmakers Bet Victor.
The former Tottenham, Birmingham, and Leicester midfielder has yet to manage outright but has held multiple coaching positions under Steve Bruce at Sunderland, Hull, Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle, and West Brom.
Bet Victor list a host of unemployed managers in the betting, including Micky Mellon, Darrell Clarke, Leam Richardson, David Artell, Duncan Ferguson, Danny Cowley, Dean Holden, and of course four-time Latics boss John Sheridan who is out at 33/1 to return, yet again.
Mellon has gained attention given his availability and experience: his CV is jam-packed with promotions, two of which he's achieved at this level with Fleetwood and Tranmere.
As for the Cowley Brothers, they have been hunting for a new opportunity since January following a two-year spell at Portsmouth. The managerial duo famously propelled Lincoln from non-league up to League One; winning both the National League and League Two along the way.
Clarke navigated Bristol Rovers back up into League Two via the play-offs and would go on to win two promotions to League One with Rovers and Port Vale.
Richardson and Artell have EFL promotions to their names, while Huddersfield have confirmed that a certain Neil Warnock will leave the club on Wednesday...
Managers in work also feature in the market, including Mike Williamson who initially emerged as the early favourite.
Williamson is currently in charge of Gateshead who have already accumulated nearly double the points of Oldham this season with three wins and four draws from their nine games to date, which puts Williamson's troops 8th in the table.
The 39-year-old is currently in his fifth season at the club, with whom he led to the National League North title in 2021/22, then last season finished 14th and reached the FA Trophy final.
Altrincham's Phil Parkinson - not to be confused with his namesake at Wrexham - is listed, although there's simply no chance that former Latics boss Pete Wild (20/1) would suddenly leave Barrow, while it's difficult to see Brian Barry Murphy (10/1) switching a plum job managing Man City's Elite Development Squad for a club struggling toward the foot of the National League.
Interim boss Steve Thompson (10/1) will be worth keeping an eye on should he get some early points on the board, starting at home to York City on Tuesday.
