Next Grimsby Manager Odds: The runners and riders to replace Paul Hurst

Grimsby Town are searching for a new permanent manager for the first time since 2020 following their decision to sack Paul Hurst after three years in charge.
We've run through the early contenders to replace him in the next Grimsby Town manager odds.
Why did Grimsby sack Paul Hurst?
Grimsby sacked Paul Hurst on Saturday following a 1-0 defeat to Doncaster, which was the club's fifth loss in a row in all competitions and eighth in their last 10.
GTFC’s Chair Jason Stockwood, via BBC Radio Humberside, said:
"We've looked at data and performances over six weeks so it's not a snap decision.
"We've been talking at length for the past two weeks in particular. The performances haven't been bad but there's something which isn't in the data which tells us that we're not getting the rub of the green, so we feel like it's time to turn the page.
"The underlying performances are not that bad, but actually that doesn't equate to positioning in the league. We're in a challenging position. I feel confident we've got the right players in the team and enough quality but there's something not quite working.
"There has to come a point where you go 'we need to change our own luck somehow, we can't just hope for the luck to change itself.'"
The decision came after a return of one win from Hurst's last 10 league matches, which left the club 21st in League Two, just four points above the drop zone.
Hurst, in his second spell in charge, had dramatically led Grimsby into League Two in 2021/22; finished in the top-half last season; and also propelled his troops to the FA Cup quarter-finals after knocking out Premier League side Southampton.

Hurst's side may have struggled so far this season but his previous achievements mean that big managerial shoes now need to be filled.
In the interim, Grimsby have placed Ben Davies and Shaun Pearson in charge of the first team ahead of Saturday's FA Cup first round fixture away to National League South side Slough Town.
Davies previously had an interim spell at the club in 2020 after Ian Holloway's departure, during which he lost to Morecambe and drew with Oldham, before Hurst arrived for his second spell.
Davies is 12/1 to go on and get the permanent gig, with Pearson slightly longer at 16s.
As for the early contenders in the betting, the market - via Bet Victor - is extremely open at this stage.
Former Fleetwood, Scunthorpe, and Salford boss Graham Alexander features as the early 6/1 frontrunner alongside Altrincham's Phil Parkinson (not to get confused with his namesake at Wrexham).
Alexander is available for hire after losing his job at MK Dons in October following a disappointing 16 game spell, while Parkinson has been in charge of Altrincham - currently 5th in the National League - since 2017 and has often been linked with a move up the ladder into the EFL.
Familiar EFL faces in ex-Crewe boss David Artell and former Wigan manager Leam Richardson follow in the market at 8/1, both of whom have been out-of-work since 2022.
Next in the running at 12/1 you'll find former Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley who is being linked to pretty much every single EFL vacancy right now, which includes being the 4/5 favourite for the Bradford post. Given his association with The Imps, a move to Grimsby appears remote.
Steve Cotterill can also be backed at 12/1, as can Pete Wild (Barrow), while the recently unemployed duo of Ben Garner and Mark Kennedy can be found at 14/1.
