Morocco became the first African country ever to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup as they made it to the final four in Qatar 18 months ago. The Atlas Lions have one of the strongest sides on paper heading into the latest edition of AFCON and are the joint-favorites at 9/2 along with Senegal with some bookmakers to go all the way and lift the trophy for a second time.
Tanzania were beaten 2-0 by Morocco when the sides last met back in November. This will only be the third time that the Tafia Stars have appeared in the Africa Cup of Nations and they are the outsiders to make it beyond the group stage of the quartet in Group E. For those who fancy Tanzania to manage the unthinkable and taste AFCON glory, a whopping 150/1 is available.
Morocco vs Tanzania Tips
First up we are backing Morocco’s Youssef En-Nesyri to score anytime in the match at 23/20 with BetMGM. The forward found the net twice in the World Cup as his side progressed to the final four. That includes goals against Canada in the group stage along with in the quarter-final against Portugal, and this season he has now managed 17 goals in total for his national side.
This term, En-Nesyri has scored five La Liga goals for Sevilla along with a further two in the Champions League. Tanzania are ranked as the 31st best nation from the continent of Africa and when they last appeared at AFCON in 2019 they were beaten in all three of their group matches. We think this could be one way traffic at the Stade de San Pedro and backing En-Nesyri to find the net looks a solid proposition.
At 5/1 we are also getting behind Sofyan Amrabat to be carded. The 27-year-old has been shown a yellow in three of his last four international matches, including against Tanzania when the sides met back in November.
For his club side Manchester United this season, Amrabat has been cautioned in six of his 17 appearances. With this in mind, 5/1 looks too big a price with other firms going just 3/1 on this same selection.
