Man Utd vs Liverpool: Expect fireworks as England's biggest clubs face off on Sunday

Live on Sky Sports, Manchester United host Liverpool in the Premier League this Sunday at Old Trafford at 4.30pm. It is the biggest game of the weekend and a battle of two of the best attacking teams in Europe right now. Ole’s men have collected just 1 point from their last 3 Premier League games with losses against Aston Villa and Leicester City, but had a morale boosting comeback win against Atalanta in the Champions League. It is clear to see that there is a lot of room for improvement in their team, especially in the defence as they have now conceded at least 1 goal in their last 9 games in a row in all competitions. However, they are still scoring goals and have the best goalscorer in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, in their team so they can not be underestimated.
Man Utd vs Liverpool Tips
The visitors come into this clash full of confidence and still unbeaten all season in all competitions so far. They are scoring goals for fun at the moment with 30 goals scored in their last 9 games in all competitions, only failing to score twice against the European Champions Chelsea. In their meeting against United last season, they netted 4 goals in an entertaining 4-2 win and I am expecting another cracker this time around. Having conceded 8 goals in their last 5 games in all competitions, the defence definitely needs improvement and going up against Manchester United at Old Trafford in front of a packed stadium will not be an easy task.
This is a huge game in terms of the title race and a result for either side could be extremely significant. As usual, I have you covered with 3 of my best betting angles for this blockbuster clash included in my preview below:
Team News:
Varane and Diallo are out while Martial, Fred and Rashford are doubtful.
Harvey Elliot and Thiago are out while Curtis Jones & Divock Origi are doubtful.
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Ronaldo
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Man Utd vs Liverpool Odds
This is a clash of 2 fierce rivals and a significant game so expect players to be up for it with strong tackles going in from both sides. We have a decent referee appointment with Anthony Taylor in charge who isn’t afraid to dish the cards out. I expect Liverpool to be leading in the 2nd half which is why I have gone for a United 2nd half card as I can see one of their players halting a Liverpool counter attack to pick up a card. Finally, I expect Liverpool to put the ball into the back of the net because of their recent goalscoring record which is just incredible (30 goals in 9 games). Combining these 3 selections gives us a fantastic betbuilder @ 4/5 and I am happy to stake 1pt on that.
Liverpool are probably the most in form team in Europe right now scoring goals left right and centre. They are unbeaten this season so far and should be taking advantage of United’s defensive issues and their recent form in the league. However, Liverpool’s defence has not been the best this season either and I can see the home side nicking a goal. So we will be backing the visitors to get the win and both teams to score a goal @ 11/4 with a small 0.5pt stake. This bet landed in their meeting last season at Old Trafford when Liverpool won here 4-2 and another similar sort of a result would not surprise me.
Bruno Fernandes has 5 assists in his last 5 games in all competitions and is one of the best creators in the Premier League. Salah has now scored in his last 9 games in a row in all competitions and will be looking to make it 10 against United. Luke Shaw will be up against the quick Salah and I can see him picking up another booking. He has been booked 3 times in his last 5 games in all competitions as well. Combining these 3 selections gives us a juicy longshot @ 28/1 and I am happy to stake a very small 0.25pt on that.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
