The Citizens are one of the favourites for CWC success (5/1), with PSG the only side priced shorter. With the impressive additions added to the already talented squad, there’s no reason why City won’t get deep into the competition.

It's Wydad AC’s third appearance in this competition, and they’re yet to win a match. That won’t change here. The Moroccan outfit is available north of 33/1 to claim a shock victory, 12/1 to get out of the group, and a whopping 500/1 to win the CWC.

Amine Benhacheme and his side are in for a tough ride in their opening encounter. They’ll respect their opponents and will aim to frustrate them as much as possible throughout the contest.

With Manchester City priced at 1/20 and available on a -3 Asian Handicap, it’s not the easiest betting heat to navigate. There’s no doubt that siding with the English side is the preferred angle. I’m expecting the footballing powerhouse to make a statement. There are no apparent injury concerns, which is a significant bonus. With new signings eager to thrive, one-way traffic is likely.

Wydad finished 3rd in their league season, 16 points off the champions. It’s a vastly inexperienced side, especially at the highest level. Erling Haaland is the obvious AGS in this clash. The Norwegian is priced at 3/10 to find the back of the net, it’s a short price but one that is expected.

Interestingly, 36 of Haaland’s 108 shots in the Premier League last term came from his head. From those 36 attempts, four were goals with an xG figure of 5.69.

Backing Haaland to score with his head at 15/4 appeals. I’m not expecting the underdogs to allow space in behind, so balls from wide into the box could be the way City attack this encounter.

Very few players in world football can compete with Manchester City’s robot physically. He’s 6’5 and has a superb leap. The jump in price from 3/10 into 15/4 makes sense, he’ll get a handful of opportunities in the penalty area.
