What a disappointing end to the season. Cheers City, for ruining it.
At the turn of the year, I thought we would be embroiled in a three horse title race all the way down the back nine. How wrong I was.
And it is the fault of Pep Guardiola and his side of indisputable winners.
The Cityzens have not dropped a Premier League point since March, they are unbeaten since the start of December and only lost three all season long.
They head into the final day two points clear of Arsenal so need a win to secure an unprecedented fourth consecutive title in a row.
For context, they are 1/10 to beat West Ham and 1/11 to lift the trophy.
It feels as though the title race was settled on Tuesday at Tottenham where a nervous looking City prevailed. At 1-0, Heung-min Son missed a big chance and moments later Erling Haaland smashed in a penalty to double the lead.
Hammers boss David Moyes doesn’t harbour much hope of a scalp in his final game as their boss. He was quoted earlier this week saying he is not sure if his side could beat Man City’s under 14’s but insisted West Ham will remain professional on Sunday.
Man City vs West Ham Tips
Phil Foden has hit another level this campaign.
17 league goals and another eight assists is his greatest return for a season but the Stockport born midfielder has also won the most Whoscored man of the match awards (9), two more then the next best.
I think that is the epitome of his quality this term.
He has scored some crucial goals as well, a brace in the Manchester Derby, one at the Bernabeu in the UCL. It would be fitting to see him amongst the goals on Sunday.
I am probably just hoping for some sort of final day drama. Hoping West Ham score first so the season does not just fizzle out with a whimper.
City wrapped up last season's title with a few games to spare but the season before they won it in the most dramatic fashion. Two goals down to Aston VIlla they scored three times in the final 15 minutes.
2020/21 was a precession as well but City had to come from behind in their 2018/19 campaign to lift the trophy.
So, in two of their last four title winning seasons, they have had to come from behind on the final day to lift the trophy.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly
