With just ten games left till the end of the season, Guardiola’s men sit one point behind the Gunners and are on a brilliant run of form, unbeaten in their last 22 games in all competitions. This is that time of the season when Guardiola’s teams click into gear but they face a tough challenge against an Arsenal side that sit top of the table and have beaten them in the league as well as the Community Shield Final this season.
The Gunners have won all eight of their games so far this year in all competitions and have secured a quarter-final spot in the Champions League. Despite their good form, Arsenal have an abysmal record at the Etihad Stadium, losing on their last eight consecutive visits conceding 22 goals in the process. This is a hugely significant game in the context of the title race and could very well be decisive come May.
A mouth-watering top of the table clash awaits us and I have included my two best bets in the preview below:
Team News:
Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Ederson & Matheus Nunes are doubtful for Manchester City.
Jurrien Timber is out for Arsenal while Gabriel, Bukayo Saka Martinelli are doubtful.
Man City vs Arsenal Tips
- Martin Odegaard - Over 0.5 shots
- Rodri - Over 0.5 tackles
- Declan Rice - Over 0.5 tackles
- Over 0 cards in the 2nd half
Martin Odegaard is averaging 2.2 shots per game for Arsenal in the Premier League this season and loves a pop from distance. He has attempted at least one shot in 23 of his 25 league appearances so far this season. He registered three shots in the reverse fixture against City at the Emirates and should comfortably get at least one here considering City’s defensive absences.
As for Rodri, he averages the most tackles per game (2.2) for Manchester City in the league this season and has registered at least one tackle in 15 of his last 16 league games for City.
Moving on to Declan Rice, he is averaging two tackles per game for Arsenal so far this season and has been a major presence in the midfield for the Gunners. He managed three tackles in the reverse fixture against City earlier this season and should comfortably get at least one here.
Finally, considering the significance of this game in the context of the title race, we should see a tense second half with cynical fouls which should help us get a second half booking with a card happy referee Anthony Taylor in charge of the proceedings. Combining these four selections gives us a solid bet builder at odds of 4/5 and we will take that as our main bet for this massive top of the table fixture with a 1pt stake.
- Martin Odegaard - Over 1.5 shots
- Rodri - Over 1.5 tackles
- Declan Rice - Over 1.5 tackles
- Over 1 cards in the 2nd half
Following on from our main bet, I am taking higher lines on every selection for our longshot bet builder. Odegaard has hit two or more shots in ten of his last 14 league appearances, Rodri has registered two or tackles in 11 of his last 15 league appearances and Declan Rice has registered two or more tackles in 10 of his last 15 league appearances.
If these three players can just hit their average for shots and tackles here, we will be looking at a huge winner at odds of 6/1. Finally, I will be going for a higher line on the cards which will require just two cards to be dished out in the final 45 minutes. We have Anthony Taylor in charge and he is averaging over six cards per game in his last seven league games and considering how pivotal this game is in the title race, we should have no problems getting the bookings over the line. At 6/1, this looks like a cracking longshot double so we will take it with a small 0.25pt stake as our second bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
