After dropping points in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Saturday, the title race looks to be heating up nicely. The Cityzens sit four points behind Liverpool and two behind Arsenal prior to Tuesday’s game with Brentford, but they remain the even money (1/1) favourites to go on and lift the title in May.
Brentford could not do Man City any favours on Saturday as they were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium, in what was a commanding performance by Jurgen Klopp’s men. The Bees are currently six points above the drop zone, currently occupying 14th in the table and manager Thomas Frank will understand his side still have plenty to do this term to secure their top-flight status for next season.
Looking at the match result odds for this clash and the hosts are the 1/6 favourites with most firms including BetMGM, implying an 88% chance of victory. The draw can be sided with at 13/2, while for those who fancy an upset, 15/1 is available for Brentford to take all three points.
The hosts will be without Josko Gvardiol, while Jack Grealish remains a doubt. Brentford have several absentees including, Rico Henry, Bryan Mbeumo, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva and Ethan Pinnock.
Man City vs Brentford Tips
Brentford were the only team to do the double over Manchester City in the Premier League last season with Ivan Toney scoring both goals in a historic 2-1 win at The Etihad, which was Brentford’s first away win against City since 1937.
Thomas Frank will be hoping for more of the same as he once again leads his troops into battle, and we are backing his talisman Ivan Toney to record Over 0.5 Shots on Target here at 10/11. Since his return from suspension, Toney has scored in four of his five matches, including against Spurs and against Liverpool on Saturday.
The only outlier in that run was in the home game to Manchester City, but after letting off eight shots with four hitting the target against Liverpool, we believe he makes appeal at the current prices to register at least one on target here. City have shown they are not bomb-proof with Chelsea (6) recording more shots on target than them (5), in the 1-1 draw three days ago and with other firms pricing this selection around 4/6, we’d advise taking the 10/11 showing from BetMGM.
Pep’s men were 1-0 down against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea for the majority for the second half before Rodri popped up to level the scores with a strike seven minutes from time. That goal made it seven for the year for the Spaniard who is the current favourite with most bookmakers to be named PFA Player of the Year.
Rodri only managed four goals across all competitions last season and with seven already this time round it’s clear to see he has improved his attacking output. Three of those goals have arrived in his last six Premier League outings and with bet365 and Sky Bet offering just 3/1 that he finds the net against Brentford, the 24/5 looks a stand-out selection for those dipping their toe in the anytime scorer market.
