Luton vs. West Ham Betting Tips: Best bets for Friday Night Football
The final Friday Night Football in the Premier League before the international break comes from Kenilworth Road. Luton will play their first top-flight home game of the season against West Ham and we've got Jimmy The Punt on hand to supply us with his best bets and preview the action.
It does not feel that long ago that David Moyes moved into one of the favourites in the sack race, remember?
It was before the Premier League season had begun and the Scottish supremo was losing the tussle with the Hammers chief transfer man (I don’t know the man's actual name or job title) with how best to reinvest the Declan Rice funds.
Fast forward a few games and that is all water under the bridge, West Ham’s midfield rebuild looks a success and the east Londoners are one of only five top flight teams to remain unbeaten.
Next on their roster is a trip to Kenilworth Road which, on paper, is their easiest game to date. I think it will be far from it.
Luton bring up the rear in most metrics, one of four teams yet to win a point (though they have played a game fewer than most sides).
The Hatters will be a different entity on home soil though. I am sure most are aware of Kenny's rugged charm, and this is something that will work in favour of the hosts.
Luton vs West Ham Tips
Only one Premier League side has seen less of the ball then Luton (31.1%) and that is West Ham.
Moyes’ men have averaged just 27.4% possession, unsurprising considering they have faced Brighton, Chelsea and Bournemouth.
How will they fair when the onus is on them to take the game to the opposition?
Last campaign, in their 10 trips to sides that finished in the bottom half, West Ham only won twice and lost six meaning this bet clicked in 80% of their league games.
It might be a bit erratic to put all my eggs in the basket of a side that were the ante-post favourites but I fancy Rob Edwards' men. Plus there would be something so Barclays about West Ham’s unbeaten run being ended by one of the worst ranked sides to grace the top flight in recent years.
I fancy the hosts because this will be the first time an EPL game has ever graced the Kenny. Something I think is unquantifiable from a betting perspective.
Second season syndrome is essentially a regression to the norm after a side ride the wave of promotion. We have recently seen it with Sheffield United, Huddersfield and even Fulham in their latest promotion.
In each of those clubs expectation defying campaigns, they got results on home soil and I fancy Luton to do the same.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly.
