Luton vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: Two predictions for Saturday lunchtime

Luton host a Tottenham side that have the chance to overtake Manchester City at the top of the tale in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Scott Thornton has picked out two bets for the game which can be viewed live on TNT Sports 1 at 12.30pm.
Rob Edwards’ side were beaten at home by Burnley in the week and know they need to make Kenilworth Road a fortress if they are to survive in the Premier League.
Tottenham may not have played this week, but they have seen plenty of media overage after the VAR audio of Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal was released by PGMOL. Spurs went on to win that match in the dying embers and they are now within striking distance of 1st place.
Luton’s defeat to Burnley pegged them back after a win at Goodison Park. However, they have shown they can be competitive in recent weeks after a few feared that they would be the Premier League’s whipping boys.
Dan Potts, Gabriel Osho, Sambi Lokonga and Jordan Clark are all injured for Luton.
Manor Solomon has undergone surgery after an injury he picked up in training so he has obviously been ruled out for a lengthy period.
Ivan Perisic, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon are also unavailable for the visitors. Brenna Johnson is a doubt after an injury he picked up against Arsenal but he faces a late fitness test.
Luton vs Tottenham Tips
Tottenham’s lightning-fast start to the season is largely down to the work put in by Ange Postecoglou.
He joined the club when they were at their lowest ebb. The fans had endured a few tough seasons where the football was a far cry from what the club were used to. Harry Kane’s departure was inevitable, and he eventually joined Bayern on the eve of the Premier League season.
Since then it has been the rise and rise of Tottenham. They’ve looked to play on the front foot and created a wealth of chances in the process. They have an xG of 15.21 after seven matches and Spurs’ average of 3.57 goals per game is the third highest in the Premier League.
They deserve all the plaudits they’ve receieved for their attacking football but there is one aspect of their game that has gone unnoticed and that’s where we focus our attention for this bet.
Tottenham have picked up the second most cards in the Premier League with an average of 3.71 per game. They are even more adept at forcing cards from the opposition.
Liverpool received six yellow cards and two red cards in the defeat in London last week. Ange Postecoglou’s men are forcing an average of 4.17 cards per game overall.
Rob Edwards’ sides’ matches haven’t seen a wealth of cards but they will look to be competitive against a side with superior quality here. Expect them to go in hard and attempt to disrupt Tottenham’s rhythm.
Luton’s last match against Burnley saw six yellow cards; two for the home side and four for the visitors.
John Brooks is at the whistle for this one and he is dishing out 5.5 cards per game this season.
For the longer odds bet, we are backing the cards angle along with both teams to score and Tottenham to win.
Luton have scored in all three of their home matches so far this season but are still awaiting their first win at Kenilworth Road. Two of those games have ended in 2-1 defeats.
Tottenham’s opponents are averaging 1.5 goals per game across their four Premier League away matches.
