It’s not so long ago since murmurs of quadruple were fluttering around Merseyside, but Jurgen Klopp’s tenure looks to be coming to a rather disappointing end to the season. If Arsenal beat Bournemouth on Saturday The Reds will be eight points behind the league leaders with just three games to go. Liverpool have had considerably longer to prepare for this game than Spurs who were in action on Thursday evening and could benefit in what has been a long and tiring campaign.
Ange Postecoglou was extremely disappointed with his sides showing away at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The Lilywhites went down 2-0 to Chelsea and their hopes of securing a Champions League spot look to be fading away. A gap of seven points separates Spurs in fifth and Villa in fourth, however the North London club do have a game in hand as we approach the end of the campaign.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Tips
After poor results against Everton and West Ham we are expecting a bit of a reaction performance from Liverpool and the opportunity to play a deflated Spurs side, it could be the ideal opponent.
The Reds have let off more shots than any other team in the Premier League this season, with an average of 20.4 per game. The player we are backing in the shots market on Sunday is Virgil van Dijk, with Bookmaker BetMGM who have him priced at 37/20 (2.85) to record two or more shots.
An absolute towering menace at set-pieces, van Dijk has scored twice this season and in league matches at Anfield he averages 1.4 shots per game. This bet of him to have 2+ shots has landed in five of his last six matches across all competitions. His shot totals in that sample read: 2,4,2,0,2,2 and with Liverpool likely to rack up the corners we like the look of him to have several attempts.
At 20/1 we had a couple of quid on Son Heung-min to score, Wataru Endo to be carded and Alexis Mac Allister to give away two or more fouls. Sonny often puts in good displays against Liverpool and looking back at recent meetings he has scored in all of his last four! Penalty taker for Spurs and with Liverpool failing to keep a clean sheet in all of their last eight matches Son can continue his streak at Anfield.
Wataru Endo has been an avid card collector in his first season at Liverpool. The Japanese midfielder has nine yellows to his name in the league with Darwin Nunez the only other member of the squad to hit that number. Endo has started nine home league matches this season and has been carded in five of those. Three of those came against Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle showing a tendency to be booked against teams in the top-half of the division.
Rounding off our Bet Builder is Alexis Mac Allister to give away two or more fouls. The World Cup winner has committed more fouls than any other player in 2023/24. He has given away two or more in all of his last four league starts. Mac Allister conceded four fouls against West Ham last week and combining him with Son to Score and Endo to be carded pays 20/1.
